we are learn from mistakes. there's a quite big discuss under the original artwork (here > greenhouse girl ) about lack of Mature Filter. I'm higly concerned about poor kids that migh be violated by the view of female body with only nipples covered and no sign of vagina (or shoud I say 'bajingo' or 'va-jay-jay'?). someone even reported it, but uh, those lazy admins didn't found it filthy enough to force me to put Mature Filter on it. shame on you admins!
so I learned my lesson and I made 3 censor types that I'll be using from now so everyone will be pleased. can't decide which one I like the most, if you could vote for your favourite one then it will be helpful let's make deviantart a better place!

now for real. some of you noticed that I started to make these funny heart censors for private parts (GENITALIAS!!! :U ) at my drawings. or sometimes I don't. why? why can't I just put mature filter at every picture that contains a nipple? because I don't find it wrong. that's why. I believe that female nipples are as appropriate as male nipples. I believe that human body is beautiful and natural and we shoudn't be shocked by view of breast or butt, we shouldn't tread it as something wrong. It's what we are. So if the character at my picture is not shown in sexual pose then I'm just placing heart stickers on private parts. Seems legit for me. But if the picture has a nudity and sexual themes then I'm putting mature filter on. Deviantart is allowed for userd 13 y/o and above so we are not talking about toddlers exposed for the view of nude people. well, even not real people only drawn ones! 13 y/o kids seen worse things, even here at dA, than naked girl with covered nipples and no vagina. it's not vulgar. it's just the body.also if dA staff members rejected the report then it means that I didn't violated service policy. To leave no doubt - I do respect service policy which says that if I want to post drawings that contain nude characters then genitalias have to be covered. here's your appropriate banana
summarizing:
nudity + no sexual theme = heart sticker on genitalias
nudity + sexual theme = Mature Filter on
my english is not fluent enough to start a discussion about using nudity in our society and positive/negative aspects of that. feel free to discuss, but I'll not join you, I made my statement about using censor in my art above. And be like Bill

i love you soooo much right now. i just stumpled out of a trump-discussion and it's soooo good to see, there are still intelligent people out there, everything might end up fine. on the subject: i'm just sad we now don't see female-parts anymore in your art. i'm alsways irritated by censoring of "nude"art, because i don't get what people do, when their children want to go to a museum. as a student of archeology, there are nude people all around me in media everytime, constandly, everywhere. i think it all comes from the purists migrating to the US and the US still dominating the internet... in european history, even in the middleages, when we were really strict about sexual things, every damn church was FULL with pictures of nude people. and there wasn't ANY censory.

I'm suprised anyone thought that the picture should have a "mature filter". there's nothing vulgar, improper or as you can call it to put a mature filter on it - in my opinion. If I were you, I wouldn't put a mature filter on it, because I wouldn't even consider it, as there's no sex scene, no genitals, no violence, nothing like that. Sometimes I go through "newest deviantions" and there is a lot of VERY vulgar stuff,, I'm curious sometimes, why people draw or photograph such things. In my opinion nudity in your picture is very sublte and feminine... and just beautiful
BTW, I've just realised, that I have a picture in my gallery, very old one, in which there's a girl combing her hair. She's naked, she has only a towel on her hips. I drew it probably when I was under 18. should I give a mature filter on it beause her breasts are naked? give a mature filter on picture I drew, when I was under 18?

I'm definitely with you on this one. This piece had absolutely no sexual content at all and there weren't even any exposed genitals or actual nipples. Also, I'd vote for number 3 of course, those are gorgeous man nips

Cenzura na tylek, cenzura na piersi, cenzura na stopy. No ale niestety zapomnialas ze w krajach dalekiego wschodu, najbardziej seksualne sa oczy, rece i wlosy (to fakt) tak wiec przydalyby sie czarne okulary i rekawiczki. Wypadaloby rowniez owinac czyms wlosy. Najlepiej narysowac tylko kontury i wypelnic jednolitym kolorem. Wtedy nikogo sie nie obrazi XDDD

God forbid we have to censor the art that comes from our own ha DS because some person who finds the beauty of the natural human body offensive for one reason or another. Have mercy if they ever attend a life-drawing class..

I always asked myself why women have to censor their nipples (even if the breasts are visible Example ) while men doesn't have to censor them xD
So the men-nipples-censoring is perfectly! Disturbing but it has a message, haha.

Hmm. I have a pretty set opinion on censoring tbh.
The way I see it, if a little kid is scrolling through dA and comes across a nude drawing, their parents could see it and get mad, either at the website or their kid.. If it's anything that would, say, trigger a parent looking over their kid's shoulder while they're on dA, then I'd censor it.
Though personally if I ever have children, I'd hate for them to think of anything including nudity to equal sexual content. That's a terrible, though way too common look on things.
As someone who is 100% comfortable with seeing nude art, ofcourse I don't really mind that much.

I usually don't censor my nudity and add the Mature filter.
You can't do whatever you want on someone else's house; you got to respect the rules. And DA is definitely not anyone's house.
At best you can try to discuss the rules.

I saw the fuss on the original deviation for this and had a little laugh, nudity with subtle censorship/coverage is such a common subject matter in art whether it be online or in museums and doesnt really need a 'mature filter'
and then even then --most of the front page of dA after a certain point is legitimately fetish porn, much without mature filters, yet the scuffle over the difference between artistic nudity and sexual nakedness with mature filters happened on this piece x"D guys, no

More problems with deviantART! Yay! Our favorite website to complain about (except for YouTube, of course). I just feel that people have gotten so sensitive over the stupidest shit lately. Personally, censorship is something that I don't really believe in. The most demented and worst parts of human nature is STILL a part of human nature. We may choose not to view it, but it is still a part of human nature whether people want to admit it or not. I know someone who got reported by some sheep about her picture showing two people in a shower with steam covering the private parts. But this is where the problem lies:
A tit is just a tit. A dick is just a dick. It's all still a part of the human body. We have the most bloody, brutal, and overly sexualized perversions of nearly any society (except for Japan, omfg). Instead of someone choosing simply not to look at it, they want to stir trouble by reporting it because they don't agree with it, or they don't like it, or they don't want to see it. I've heard the argument that 'Oh, but kids can browse this site!' Yeah, well, they can also look up animal torture sites or pornography. Kids- just because they're 13 - doesn't mean that they won't go to explicit websites; they are going to whether it's out of boredom or curiosity. So I feel these rules to keep deviantART "family friendly" is futile. But even if they wanted to, the website still has a maturity filter so younger kids can't see what's behind the shield. Then again, people can now simply type in a fake birth date without even logging in so they can see behind said shield.

I didn't think it was inappropriate. I don't think artistic nudity needs to be censored.
I hadn't realized dA has required all forms of nudity to be censored, I thought as long as it wasn't erotic I didn't need a censor.
Of course I got someone being very rude in my comments acting like I was a moron for not adding a mature filter.
I think dA should revise their rules on censoring artistic nudity.

HONESTLY I think the pic was fine like it was in a tasteful manner and didn't have any sexual themes in it and cough the person saying your a moron for not censoring it is a hypocrite because there were some sexual themes in their gallery which were uncensored cough but yeah they could have at least been more polite about the situation.
And I agree wholeheartedly because uncensored breasts aren't even that bad as long as it's in an artistic manor!

Yeah I had checked out their gallery and saw the kind of stuff they posted and just kind of rolled my eyes at it.
I figured bringing it up would be petty but damn, they need to get off their high horse.
I also don't understand why they couldn't be polite about it, it's not hard, and their account claims them to be an adult so they should probably act like one.
Yeah like I agree erotic stuff should be censored 100% but tasteful and artful nudity/exposure of the female breasts? Why is that so bad?
When I was a kid I looked at tons of classical art and anatomy books that had tons of exposed breasts. It didn't hurt me to see them and it's not going to hurt kids who already have easy access to porn websites.

I'm really disappointed in how sensitive the community has gotten. A lot of the people that are harping on how an under boob can explode a child's brain seems to forget that when they were 13 and they saw a nip they either shrugged it off or had a little bit of a chuckle.
Not to mention that some 13 year olds just wait for their parents to leave their rooms so they can start up pornhub.

A lot of people on-site seem to underestimate children. At the age of 8, I could already subtract 5 from my birthyear and could've joined the site that way. Crazy, I know.
Anyway, explaining love, sex and the human body is the parent's responsibility, cause it's all part of life that they will eventually encounter. I'm thinking a lot of these people demanding a mature filter were really sheltered.

I really couldn't agree more, I find it hysterically ironic how people complain about works of art on deviantArt & Co affecting young, innocent minds, when kids these days have sex (OMG, GASP, I used the forbidden word, shame on me for eternity) and watch porn since they're barely 10 or younger. Not saying it's something bad or good, not judging, I'm saying it just happens so, in this case, what's the point to censor things people already know about? Also censoring doesn't help with anything, I think it's great for people to have access to information of any kind, especially one that's so natural. If people want to make kids and youngsters more responsible towards nudity, sex & the likes then I think the answer is for parents, teachers & Co to explain these stuff properly and do some serious sex education, not sweep them under the rug of ignorance, because that's way worse and can lead to frustrations & Co.
So what I want to say is that the human body is awesome, and I for one love the fact that I watch artists, like you, who know this and show their appreciation for it in their works. So thank you for sharing your art with us

but for real, i think the whole problem with the mature filter should be handled better, it's difficult because you never know what to expect (if the title isn't clear enough), perhaps a different, clearer approach would be a bit more helpful (maybe something that shows wether it's covered because of somehting like blood/gore or sexual themes?)
i think artistic nudity on the other hand is wonderful and don't get where the problem lies in openly displaying it, i mean just look at greek art
