im curious how you would apply your technique to photos with extreme perspective. I know ppl like myself like comics and stuff and they use extreme perspective for dramatic effect. Could you do some quick tips on doing those?

Sure no problem. I'll try and have something up this week. I'm doing
a lot of demos for my students this week
Thank you for the question
If you have specific reference at hand, can you send it to me?

While I view life drawing as fundamental, the shots captures from a camera's POV can really open one's mind to figure drawing to backgrounds and beyond you know?

Most of my "extra lines" come from correcting.
It's like this:
*scribble scribble* - *look at it a bit closer* - "Darn, that looks wrong" - *another close look at the reference* - *some cursing* - *scribble scribble*
I hate to use the eraser too much….
I really hope, one day, it just makes "click" and I suddenly know how to put certain poses on paper.
Uh, practice makes perfect, I guess.
Thank you for your great tutorials!!

Best advice I can give is the best advice ever given to me on that subject matter.
When you observe you observe, when you draw you draw. Meaning When drawing the manikin,
you are using the model as reference for the manikin. When you look at the model, you should be
asking simple questions like," What's the head doing? It's a side view that's slightly tilting away.
You look down and that's what you draw. "ERIC's" or "ERICA's" head in a side view that's slightly
tilting away. ( Look up ) How does the neck flow into the magic carpet/ torso region? Where's the center line?
Looks like the there's an obvious stretch side and a pinch side. The magic carpet makes a C shape. There's also
a slight twist in that C shape. ( Look Down) That's what you draw.
If you find yourself scribbling too much. Practice, kiss the paper with your pencil. Basically rehearse your
marks a few times and then commit. It doesn't have to be " THE " line but it helps you to make a clear
decision. As long as you keep your line light you can always adjust it.
What you want to stay away from is the hairy line syndrome. 20 lines all pretty much going in the same direction.
When it comes time to finishing or refining the drawing those lines are going to frustrate you because you don't know
which line is final line.
Are you heavy handed?
Hope this helps.
