Description
Based on a suggestion, I took the original raw file and played with it in an HDR program. Let me know what you think of this version compared to the previous one.Original here: [link]
As I stood on the beach, I watched the wind blow sand across the scene, covering the last remnants of those who had walked before. Soon, their path was covered and their presence forever forgotten.

Very good. Hard to tell its an HDR (a good thing as normally there can be banding around edges). Well done

Very good. Really gives a serene feeling because allt he colours are so smooth. The lighting is so inviting, feels like a cool summer afternoon. And that feels so good.

The footprints give the picture a way better perspective. Nice job. The soft-tone is really great.

Yeah, having a car helps a lot. This spot was a couple of hours away from where I live.

Very cool concept and perfectly executed. What exactly is HDR?

Thanks!
HDR stands for high dynamic range, and is where you take multiple shots using different exposures and then blend them together. Using this, you can take a shot adjusted for the highlights, one for the shadows, and one for the mid-tones, then combine them into a shot where all three areas are correctly exposed. If you want to know more there are plenty of tutorials around DA on the subject.

The sky looks much better here, and if I'm not quite mistaken the shadows in the sand are much more pronounced, too. I love how you can see all the details in the sand, the footprints, and the little ripples, and the overall shape and sharp edge of the dune :]
