Why is it that others must constantly measure us, or that we must measure ourselves against the world in order to feel successful? Happiness does not come by being better than another.As for the number 25, I'm just about that old, and the world has expectations of where I should be which do not coincide with where I am.

You've photographed something soo very simple and made such a giant theme out of it... being measured... yes, unfortunately, that's how many live; measuring and comparing.
Also, I have to say the focus is excellent...
So as the background color you chose, its great with the color of the measure tape.

Good concept! I'd wondered whether the 25 signified your age, since it's so singled out by the DOF. Now with the description the photo makes me think that the diagonal strip is your path of life - and the other strips are lifelines against which you are constantly comparing yourself.
I know the problem.... I'm not anywhere near an ordinary 30-year old would be....

Thanks for the well thought out comments! Some people really do place too much emphasis on measuring up to others. I quite like just where I am though, and don't really care what everyone else thinks. It's much better that way
