Description
The train carriage was bustling with activity as it sped through the countryside. In the midst of the crowd sat a slightly augmented woman, her eyes darting nervously around the carriage. Beside her sat an automaton, its metallic body gleaming in the sunlight.
The woman shifted in her seat, trying to make herself smaller. She had never been comfortable around automatons, no matter how advanced they were. The automaton beside her was especially intimidating, with its imposing frame and glowing eyes.
The automaton, for its part, seemed completely unfazed by the woman's nervousness. It sat motionless beside her, its gears whirring quietly as it scanned the passengers around them.
Suddenly, the train hit a bump in the tracks, causing the woman to jump in her seat. She felt the automaton's cold metal hand brush against hers, and she recoiled instinctively.
"I'm sorry," she said, her voice trembling. "I didn't mean to--"
But the automaton cut her off with a soft beep. "It's quite alright," it said. "I understand that my presence can be intimidating. But I assure you, I am no threat to you."
The woman relaxed slightly at the automaton's words. It was true that she had nothing to fear from it; automatons had been a part of society for some years now, and they were programmed to follow strict protocols to ensure human safety.
"I know," she said, offering the automaton a small smile. "It's just...I've always been a bit nervous around them, I suppose."
The automaton nodded, its red eyes softening. "I understand," it said. "But I hope that one day, you will see us not as objects of fear, but as useful tools to aid in your daily life."
The woman nodded, her nerves gradually subsiding. Perhaps the automaton was right; perhaps she needed to re-evaluate her perspective on these machines. After all, in a world where technology was advancing at breakneck speed, automatons were becoming more and more integral to everyday life.
