This is a CLOSED species for the time being. That means do not make one unless you have permission from me.
What are they:
Darters are a subspecies of breezies. They are smaller than breezies and are probably the closest in relation to equestrian breezies.
Food:
Darters eat mainly nectar, honey, and are a huge fan of anything sweet.
Basic traits:
-'Feathered' Fur

-Basic Markings
Uncommon traits:
-Long Tail
-Long Fur
-Poison Barbs
-'Feathered' Ears
-Flitter (Small)
Rare traits:
-Runed (Magical)
-Poisoned Wings
-Feathered Wings
-Feathered Hair
-Patterned Markings
-Flitter (Large)

Habits:
Darters are a hive like race. They tend to live with others of the same interest/jobs. Their people are separated into many different hives and enjoy a good order. They often build these gatherings in trees. If a darter senses danger they will gather together to create the illusion of something larger. Or, if threatened by something too smart for that, they use other means of defense. Some darters are born with poisoned barbs or magical runes. But others use potions they've made.
Darters are very adept at brewing and potion making. They gather pollen and various plants and make many remedies and useful brews.
The fluff on their chest is optional.

I don't know if it has been happening, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Some people get yelled at for glitter-mane ponies because 'Glitter Ponies' is a closed species.

That's always an issue when doing something like this. I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does I hope people will let me know so I can sort it out myself.

Would you count excessive chest fluff than the norm on a Darter's chest (as in more than in the examples above) an uncommon trait? And also, if a Darter has a VERY strong passion for mixing/the alchemy parts of the hive but his/her job involves lots of delivering, what hive would he/she be classified in? Or are there names for those Darter's living among two hives?

Probably the delivery hive, as those with the same job stick together. Though passions outside of their jobs are allowed.

As long as it's wrapping around then you're free to add some extra fluff, no need for extra traits.
And as far as the passion for potions, do know that some recipes will be off limits since the character is not actually part of the mixing hive.

What is classified as "fancy" markings?

Something along the same strain as the wysp's shaped markings. This is specifically shaped things such as stars and hearts.
Though if this is for the MYO event that can't be used.

Another question (I love asking questions...) To what level of power do Runed darters have over the wind? (Like, can they make small gusts of wind, or can they only bend existing wind to their own will, etc.)

It's normally only controlling the air directly in front of them and around them. No large, grand powers though.

So for example, could they direct air so it either...
1. Carry potions with more accuracy to its target (within let's say, 1 meter [in breezie terms] radius)
2. Make it so that they can fly faster (direct the wind so it pushed them faster)
3. Make attacking enemy breezies directly around them partially lose control over flight
I am still slightly confuzzled about how much power they can have over the air around them

Darter's are already super fast though, so that's probably not required, hehe.
You can decide how much latent magic your OC has, but please, don't go overboard.

The pink Darter on the bottom of the sheet is runed. There's no specific pattern you have to adhere to, it just means that they have some magic over wind.
Nothing too powerful, of course. But some power.
