G-manluver — No more arguments about this

Description please read this if you're going to even attempt to argue me
I'm fucking sick and tired of arguing this offline and on.

I don't give a shit what the "Bible" says, the Bible doesn't determine the meaning of the word animal.

GET THE HELL OVER IT!

Being an animal is based of biological properties, NOT BEHAVIOR, SPIRITUALITY OR INTELLIGENCE! In other words stop using the lame arguements: Humans have souls, cause wars, are smarter, have morals and any other bullshit related to our behavior.

THAT HAS NOTHING AND I REPEAT NOTHING TO DO WITH HUMANS BEING ANIMALS, DIMWIT!!!

Why can't you just look up what animal means instead of arguing using an outdated book?

Really would you argue that elephants aren't indangered because an outdated text says their population is fine? FUCK NO! So why argue the meaning of a word by using old text?

Meanings of words change over time, the definition of animal is one of those words and no amount of arguing with G-manluver will make your argument right.

You're wrong, humans are animals, you're wrong, too bad, so sad, use a dictionary, you're wrong!

The end!

PS: you can argue it here but again no amount of arguing will me with change the proper definition of animal . Just sit back, relax and live with the thought that you aren't a plant or fugi at the least!

EDIT: apparently my stamp is the most popular one of the day D:. wow this did much better than presumed.

EDIT 2: I said get over it! So GET OVER IT. your faith is incapable of changing known information so quit with the "God made us special" crap because if you can't prove it (meaning first you'd have to prove God exist, than get him to prove he created humans than get him to prove he made them into a unique seperate lifeform from all other species) than you have no argument. simple right?

Wow...a lot of people are pissed of by this fact i see from the comments

Isn't it ironic and sad that we human beings 'are smarter then they wild animals!1 ' Yet we fuck up way more then 'they' do? If they are wild beast then what does that make us?

G-manluver In reply to Kellodrawsalot [2008-12-30 16:36:11 +0000 UTC]

Very true, though as I said being an animal has nothing to do with behavior xP.

People seem to assume if we admit were animals that will "act like animals" which doesn't seem to be a bad thing as you noted (we pretty much fuck up everything we touch). But in actual thought: If a human is an animals than acting like a human would be acting like an animal.

I guess people that argue we aren't animals are too dumb to notice this =/

very true i'm not a dog or cat person to be honest (or anywhere close to a peta-girl ) but i do get tired when..example a sick old man locks up his 2 children rapes and abuses them for 28 years and people call him a 'beast or animal' have you ever heard of a fish lion or dog locking up their own children and raping them?

( my english sucks sorry )

But i think this all comes down to the Bible people who claim animals were made for human's 'ussefullnes' ( someone even once told me this ) but even God would face palm at these people.

I assume he would too Dx. Really I don't get that comparison either, calling someone a beast for acting nothing like any beast I've ever heard of is confusing.

Its not like animal is an insult.
Besides, animals do start wars, ringtail lemurs are like little people marching out in ORGINIZED lines to fight rival troops.
Humans are totally animals.

agreed. It isn't an insult at all, people are just worried that if we realize were animals will start acting like monkeys or something.

Little do they realize:
If human=animal than that would mean
human behavior=animal behavior. So acting like a human IS acting like an animal lol.

I can agree with that, if people actually ya know READ IN IN CONTEXT they would realize most of the stories are fables and most the rules only applied for people at the time the book was written.

quite, only the "thou shall not *fillintheblank*" kinda is still relevant but... in reality I don't think you need a book or God for that matter telling you that killing, stealing, lying, etc.. is bad.

I Agree with this Personally I think Religion is just a reason for war, abuse, and control and they don't want to be considered at he same level as a Dog because there afraid. Besides if they agree that we are animals then that means less power for the church.

same here, I'm fine if People have personal beliefs but they have to realize a belief=/=a fact.

For whatever reason some religious people don't teach how to define those 2 things and then people like me that are educated in biology have to deal with crap like: "if human evolved from monkeys why are their still monkeys?"

In short: we need to abolish religious schools/improve public ones.

not familiar with Linnaeus (I'm getting deja vu from the name but can't quite remember it) but happy you agree, I'm actually rather sad a lot of people don't (giving lame excuses such as their faith or the fact humans can change definitions of words without thinking about the fact you need a good reason to change a scientific defintion).

Carl Linnaeus was the Swedish, Lutheran botanist who popularized the two-Latin-name system of taxonomy -- the Father of Taxonomy. So, for example, "homo sapiens" for humans.

Yes, I agree with you! Of course!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

antie In reply to G-manluver [2008-10-24 03:50:26 +0000 UTC]

It's a very good system!

Back when almost all intellectual people were technically creationists, people still realized that humans were animals. I think the modern notion that we are not is a reaction against Darwin's ideas.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

G-manluver In reply to antie [2008-10-24 19:43:03 +0000 UTC]

probably, people are just... so prideful they can't even accept the possibility they have something in common with a "lower lifeform" (this being their opinion, not my own).

Animal, in simple terms, is just a self replicating system (i.e. living thing) than eats food and moves around.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

antie In reply to G-manluver [2008-10-25 00:48:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, the reasoning is that if we are just animals, then we can do nothing but "act like animals" (whatever that means), and if we can be nothing more than animals that "act like animals," then there is no point of morality (since animals have no real morality)... so we might as well just run around and murder each other and steal and all of that.

I've heard variations of this scary "argument."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

G-manluver In reply to antie [2008-10-25 01:27:12 +0000 UTC]

Same here, little to they realize most animals don't run around killing each other without reason.

Also morality is a human thing, it doesn't matter what kind of lifeform we are were still humans.

From what I can tell, they're just afraid that because we accept were animals; society will somehow collapse because most other animals don't have well develop social structures like humans.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

antie In reply to G-manluver [2008-10-26 06:24:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes, and little do they realize that there is hardly any kind of definitive "animal behavior."
