Damn, this is big.Super big.
It took longer to upload it than to do it.
I'm doing this one first because more people requested it. But I will do a lineart tutorial too.

1) I made a mistake. The option is not "Combine Visible", it's "Merge visible".
2) The program I'm using is Photoshop CS3.
3) For those who asked, I did this with a mouse. I know it looks difficult at first but with practice coloring one character with this technique can take less than 15 minutes.

I don't draw with a mouse, but I guess I'm a pretty new tablet user. Can I still use the same steps you used to color on tablet? Like is it still necessary to use the pen tool with a tablet? O: Or is that just a mouse thing? owo
Also, I never really understood the point of the pen tool on PS. <:/ Is it basically the same as the marquee or lasso tool? <:\

Hi! I'm following your tutorial and I'm an absolute noob at PS, I was wondering during the lasso part, how did you select the hand too? Because when I finish selecting the head (I pressed enter) and start selecting the hand, the 'hoop' around the head disappears! :/
What am I doing wrong?

You probably have the default selection. At the top, once you select the selection tool, you should have 4 icons. You need to select the one that adds selection (I believe it's the fourth one.)

When you do the skin shadows ...how do you think of making the shadows.I mean how do you know how to set them.

Una pregunta, cuando seleccionas la herramienta de pintar..el balde, en la parte de arriba sale una barra en la que selleccionas el modo, la opacidad y eso...como se supone que deve estar? es que cuando llego a esa parte y hago cluc en mi seleccion, el color opaca mi lineart

no, me refiero a como haces para que la primera capa sea un backround blanco y la segunda sea tu lineart y despues como se hace para crear otra layer sin afectar el anterior...eso es lo que me da problemas:S

Wow you did that with a mouse?! I have a pen pad but am still fairly new to it. Its an interesting way you do your work, particularly the fact that you only seem to use a hard line. When I do shadows and stuff I always make sure to use a softer one. Im not 100% sure that I like all your techniques (more just your style would be difficult for me, far to smooth) but I defiantly do need to work on getting better with layers, right now they seem to cause more problems for me than anything. And blocking out the places for at least the base color seems like it would come in handy. Really great tutorial here
