Quick comic I did to cheer up after hearing about the DC reboot/relaunch/imgonnabreakyourheartandeatittoo DC is doing. Based on thisFor those who don't know, the blonde is Stephanie Brown, current, and soon to be former, Batgirl. Barbara Gordon will star in the new Batgirl series, which will be released in September. :/
I have so many feelings about this. First of all, they are cancelling my favourite books and breaking up my favourite team. Not to mention than two of my favourite female characters (Cass and Steph) are in limbo. And I don't really want to get started on what I think about the whole "fixing Babs legs and making her Batgirl again" thing.
So I needed to do something positive. And nothing says positive like Steph and this drabble was the perfect inspiration.
Aaaand I'll stop there. Back to commissions.
Both characters belong to DC.

yeah its kind of crazy movie. but yeah ratings of dc are droping. sadly. though i recal the new batgirl with stephany brown. was doing great.

I heard somewhere that it's been confirmed that it won't be Barbara as Batgirl in the reboot... it's some other chick... but I still hate that they're taking Damian away from Dick.

...ANOTHER reboot? o.0 reminds me of that spider-man comic, think it was issue 600 where spidey was ranting to stan lee (if memory serves correctly) about how he doesn't know anymore who he really is after all the reboots/hulkouts/crazychanges that happened to him over the years...
still though, if they're returning babs back to the cape n' cowl...shouldn't she be batwoman or something, now? she's kinda too old to be batgirl (heck, even dick's batMAN and he's younger than babs)

I was wondering what you thought about the reboot. I personally hate the fact that steph isn't going to be Batgirl. Here's hoping the DC gives her a life line.

I love how Steph just plays with Nightwing (no, I'm not making THAT pun) while she's talking. Plus it's almost like the plushie is a character of its own.
Overall, cuteness.
Personally I'm of hope they'll cripple her and have her story be the front and centre instead of the background of a Batman vs. Joker story.

This is probably one of the key pet peeves that I have about the current management in mainstream comics publishing. And it goes frot both of the Big Two (DC and Marvel). They can't seem to stick to something that's gaining traction amongst fans out there, so they hit the reset button -- it seems, about every other year or so. Was a time when they wrote things so that fans who came in early on would still basically recognize their favorites 5 or 10 years after they left, give or take a few contemporary settings and tropes tacked on.
I got stung like this back in '04 when Marvel basically wrote off the bittersweet, happysad world that its mutant characters were in with their "House of M" and "Decimation" crossovers. They went from mutants being on the verge of some form of acceptance to there being few and always in danger of extinction by any number of extremists (as if there were no evil mutants, only evil humans). I was then getting into the setting for New X-Men: Academy X that the writing team of Christina Weir and Nuncio DePhillipis was putting together, but someone decided that it was too much "DeGrassi High with mutants" for their liking, tossed the female Wolverine clone (X-23) into the mix, and killed off, de-powered and shipped off half of the characters who were getting interesting to me.
That's the nature of the business these days.

can you give some titles of your favourite comics with either Cassandra or Barbara as Oracle? Or in general some good Batgirl stories? I am so back with the Bat family, I know only the oldest classics with two or max three robins >.<

It does seem awkward when Barbara being paraalyzed was what made her a role model for paraplegics/etc ,since it was kind of irreversible by general Batman standards. Not to mention I know so little about Stephanie I'm not even sure about her qualifications compared to Barbara's, though I suppose any general Batgirl has that kind of background

I have mixed feelings on the reboot a bit happy and a little sad.
I wasn't even liking how Batman comics were going and was not even reading the comics once Damian showed up.
However, including that its all of DC being reboot I can't say I do look forward to it.

To be fair I don't know why they didn't get Babs walking ages ago, I mean seriously, they freaking replaced Damian's spine when Flamingo shot him so....yeah. Though I get what you're saying too, it's almost like that ship has sailed for Babs.

I don't like the reboot either. I'm a huge Teen Titans and Outsiders fan, there was a lot of great and major moments in both, and now they won't have happened. The betrayal of Terra, the death of Donna Troy (first Wonder Girl), the death of Super Boy, the defeat and death of Trigun, and the biggest in my opinion the fact that Dr. Light is actually the worlds deadliest villain. It's true, the Justice League thought him to nasty so they erased his mind and threw him to the Titans as a weakling to boost their morale. Plus the other problem I have is like half of todays big time leaguers, like the Flash, were once Teen Titans. Hell the current Flash was one of the origanal 5 Titans.
