Chapter 11: Grovyle the Thief? REALLY? <[link] >Woohoo! This is my third deviation for today (that should be about it, though)! I was really on a roll for once. Anyway...yeah. I thought it would look really funny to actually have Mesprit drag Amy and Chikorita through the air. Remember how slowly she and the hero and partner ran away from the whole time-stopping thingy in the Underground Lake? Time was stopping! They would've been trapped at that speed!
Since Mesprit looked really similar to Celebi, I decided to give them the same speech patterns. I originally had her speak just as formally as Uxie, but that didn't seem to match her look, so I made her more spunky and flippant. Sure, she says "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!", but at least she said it in a funny way!
Amy would be freaking out as much as Chikorita and Mesprit, but Grovyle's voice sounded oddly familiar...if only she knew where she heard it before...

Yeah, I never really believe those Pokedex entries anyway, to be honest. Half the time, they don't stop to consider the implications of what the Pokemons' descriptions are.

(Space-Kyurem never ate me, when I was a Bagon, I never thought about flying that much, and there's others as well. xD)

Interestingly enough, this was the one picture in which the background changed the most from the original pencil sketch. (There wasn't really much of one at all!) I used video reference to accurately capture the look of the Underground Cave and painted it freehand. I'm surprised how well it turned out...!
And oh yeah, I just edited it a little so that Mesprit could use her psychic powers to help carry both Amy and Chikorita, which, combined, are way heavier than her. I'm actually not sure whether the psychic power is supposed to emit from her eyes or that red jewel on her forehead...but I picked the eyes since that seems to be more common...and looks cooler, too!

It really worked well.
Intesting note in my Diamond version Mesprit is the only lake trio I have that's at max Happiness.
