Did you know that soap bubbles can freeze in minus temperatures?
I discovered this after seeing that photo by JessiesPhotography and decided to try my luck! It's kind of a fascinating process but honestly, it's -35°C here lately, with a lot of wind, so it tends to break too fast (and I also tend to freeze faster than the bubble ). Will definitely try again!
EDIT: OMG Thank you so much for giving this photo a Daily Deviation!! I feel so glad about it!!
Thanks a lot to Great-Name for suggesting it and to Kaz-D for featuring it!

It's difficult to tell because it's a close-up but the horizon is actually straight
The bubble landed on the side of this heap of snow and I thought it was an interesting angle to use.
Also I darkened the photo because of what I wanted to represent - it did look like a moon rising on the RAW but there was too much light. It's all a matter choice
I'm quite surprised at the bokeh comment and can't agree with you. Once again, it's a choice to keep the shapes at their minimum to make the message of the photo 'clearer'. And good luck shooting macro with f/2.8 or F/4! I'm not saying it's impossible, but this close, but you lose so much details doing so...
Overall, I don't really know what to say; as much as I'm glad the impact was good, I feel something's been missed here and that's too bad for me I guess
Thank you for commenting!

Of course this is not looks like critique. Just my opinion what should be better and what is perfect)
And it's really nice that you can explain your art. Cause not any artist can do that)
Will be glad to see your next works and write critiques in a free time!

When you touch it at this point, it will make a hole with some weird frozen-soap-ish remaining on your finger

Oh my gosh! I knew this! My Mom (who is a sixth grade teacher) did this with her science class.... er, no with soap bubbles but~ she did do it with regular bubbles.
This is so amazing~ I love how it's so close so that one could see the epic detail/how the bubble's the main focal point! Great job~ Congrats on the epic DD~

Oh wow, I never saw that in science class even though it would have been so cool!
Thank you so much

Well, it has been colder than usual here where I live so it's been perfect weather for it to happen.
No problem~

Fantastic! Such a beautiful shot!
I would love to try taking photos like these, but I absolutely HATE the cold. If it's below zero and I don't have to go to work or run errands, I hide at home under blankets... cursing mother nature for bringing this cold hell upon us. hahaha

Ahaha I don't mind the cold but under -20°C... well, maybe it's a bit too cold
Thanks a lot

heehee, I did this a bunch this winter, and it's so much harder than it looks! Good job.

Indeed, it's really not easy, although the process is still fascinating! But damn wind, no bubbles would land where I wanted
Thanks a lot

Haha, I KNOW, the wind is the worst part! two hands to hold the bubbles and wand, two more hands for the camera, one hand to block the wind, another hand to push snow out of the way...excellent job.
