Hi I just wanted to let you know that this is a great tutorial, very simple to use. I used it for the background in my latest deviation here. [link]

The way I color metals will seem weird to a lotta people. I can try to get a tut on that someday, but most people will post "There are easier ways!"
Basically, I just go for really high contrasts with some small ambient or reflected light colors in the shadow areas.

i would say it make your metals unique- sure there are easier ways but does it get the same results master craftsman
I usually do the same-

Ah, I get it now. Just to compare notes, I was doing something very similar. I was using gausian blur instead of motion and I never thought to use splatter brushes. I also never had done the darkening of the border, but I will now.
Thanks a ton, Garry!

No problem Alan. It's pretty basic and simple, but it works well enough for me. You can get a lot better results just by tweaking the colors, noise, and contrast a bit on the different levels.

Just depends on when it actually is, cuz I'll be in MN for the end of summer/first of fall. I have a fanboy friend that lives in Arlington, he and his wife already said I could crash at their place if I ever wanted to go to WWTexas. It gives him an excuse to go to the con

It looks like Fall Con is October. I might be able to swing both. Talked with my friend in Arlington last night and he said I can mooch a piece of carpet to sleep on.
