also the zygon transformation is a biological/mechanical process. they cna imitate the physical aspects. the power of magic is not a physical aspect, likely why the zygons don't just chagne into the forms of supernatural beings.
that or plot contrivance.
hell the whole theme of zygons and theri technology is biology and organics. there is no place for magic and supernatural.
and i highly doubt it just so happens ponies have amgic gland or something. that would be kinda ssttupid.
also i am not just talking unicorns and alicorns. pegasus flight is magicall based, and so is earth pony strength.

I didn't bring up pegusus flight or earth pony strength because theres easy workarounds for both and we haven't seen any signs of possible Zygons demonstating those abilities yet.
And actually time travel can make a duck not a duck, two ways off the top of my head are by altering it's evolutionary cycle, and reversing time in it's general area far back enough to where it's cells all reform back into their original source(Classic series City of Death did something like this with a chicken).
And since this is a crossover between a magic focused series and a science focused one, some assumsions have to be made, and since Doctor who has touched on how magic in it's world is just another form of science and MLP has had Doctor Hooves say that sceince at times can be the TRUE magic. I think it's fair to assume that for the sake of a crossover where a sucker covered alien turns into a technicolor equine, the zygons would have access to the magic that powers the ponies abilities. Heck the tirek encounter showed that that sort of magic is a tangible resource, it's not to much to assume that even if the zygons don't start off with the magic, they could repurpose the pods to channel that energy to their form. They may have started as the "Red changlings" because they were still trying to adapt their abilities and technlogy to be more compatible with Pony magic.

Zygons do not have powers. They cannot imitate powers, let alone magic. They only imitate physical form.
Thus this entire story cannot possibly work. Because they would be unable to overpower ponies, imitate ponies in any way, and a war with them would be one sided as fuck because of the power magic grants.
The trashcan aliens would be a moderately larger threat, if still easily taken care of.

Mmh... I don't know if I remember well but don't they have poison on their tongue and the ability to zap peoples into dust ? I'm sure of something though, they are not defenseless.
Indeed, they can't copy correctely a pony because of magic and all, but when it have the appearence of someone you love, you don't ask question, you simply trust him, because you refuse to admit that a creature might have take his place. And I don't think the characters are going to think about the ability difference : you know that Zygons can't copy abilities but the characters don't.

think you are mixing up the zygons with the trashcan bots with te disinetegrate power.
and that doesn't work because ponies are to empathic. they are more likely to notice changes.
and it is not simply the characters not knowing that, but the fact they would be incapable of imitating ANY ponies. they could nto fly, as that is at large magicall controlled. they would nto be strong, as earth ponies have strength. and they could never use magic, and that would become suspicious.
so there is no way they could pull off any of this ruse. they would be exposed and, worse, be helpless after being exposed because the literall have no way to really defend themselves gainst attackers. basiclaly they has super powers, the ponies, in comparison to zygons.
and zygons ain't no batman or black widow.
be like you trying to imitate someone with all his limbs and you are missing a leg. you might look like that guy you are trying to imitate, but it ain't gonna change that the other guy still has his leg.
and when you are ultimately found out you have only one real leg and thus cannot properly fight off the guy's pissed off friends and family let alone escape.
that is the scenario here.

The comic isn't suggesting they kill the ponies, if anything, they're keeping them in the pods with a way to absorb the magic, or at least channel it.
Plus, with Equestria - as seen with the portal - it contains a magic to those who pass through, like SciTwi had no magic whatsoever, but gained it when she stole the magic with a device.
When they first arrived, they no doubt started off small, plucking out unicorns and Earth Ponies, until their numbers were far superior, giving them the advantage over the ordinary ponies, until they had the power and magic to overcome Twilight.

I'm not bashing the art, and I'm well within my rights to recognize that the new Doctor Who is bad. A few episode were good, one was half good, and in regards to the Zygon invasion, it was dull, slow and poorly executed. The only redeeming part of the episode was the speech the Doctor gave on war. Now if the artist doing the comic can actually pull off a good story, that's fine, I'll enjoy it, but not because the Zygon from the Doctor Who series are any good. Finally, if you're offended by me disliking any aspect of this comic, then good, sucks to be you.

It's your fault this conversation went this far, I said I'd hoped for actually MLP changelings, then you said there were changelings, which you'd be right in saying, but I think Zygons are lame. Zygons are from Doctor Who, so no one needs to ask about Doctor Who for it to come up because this comic is a Doctor Who MLP crossover, even if the Zygons weren't in it, it would be a crossover so I could still bring up Doctor Who and so could anyone else. Zygons are still lame, and I made it clear that if the artist wrote a good enough story, that I enjoyed it wouldn't even matter that I don't like Zygons because the episodes of Doctor Who they were in were garbage. There you go again, ignoring everything Ive said. Ive already told you that I was enjoying this comic, and even though Zygons are lame if they are used well in this comic I'll continue to enjoy it. So the only thing Im "nitpicking" which is a bad word to use, criticizing would fit the bill better, is the quality of writing in Doctor Who mostly where the Zygons are concerned for the purposes of this discussion. I don't need to be able to write a television show to decide whether or not one is bad, and seeing my gallery tells you nothing about me, or my abilities other than, I can draw MLP and Equestria girls stuff.
Further more, my opinion clearly does matter, if you thought it didn't matter then you'd have never commented in the first place, in fact you've expressed a great deal of concern for my opinion.
