Description
This is the back cover to Chris Irving's upcoming book the Blue Beetle Companion, published by TwoMorrows Publishing. I think it ships in Feburary. I've always been a big fan of the Ted Kord Blue Beetle and Cully Hamner designer of the current Blue Beetle is a friend so I was thrilled to get to do this piece. Chris is crazy for the Golden Age characters so the book was a labor of love for him.Related content

The thing I like about the Blue beetle legacy is the reinvention of the character every generation: You have here: the Phantom-like pulp hero, then the Batman like non powered masked hero, then the "modern" hero with a suit that can do anything. You start wondering what the fourth blue bettle is going to be like, huh?

Ted was always my favorite. Him and Booster are why I got into comics in the first place... Haven't been able to read much about the first one...

This must be the BLue Beetle from the 40s! When Batman & Superman got their start!! Still got PLENTY O ENEMIES TO FIGHT; MUZZIES, COMMIES, CHINESE, DICTATORS, MILITANTS, ETC.

So Muslims are the enemy? Does that apply to the guy in the office next to me, who is always there to lend a hand when I ask? How about the Chinese wife of my friend? Are they my enemy? Is my Grandmother a Commie when she deposits her Social Security check? How about my Uncle Larry, that served his country in Vietnam and is now on disability? Is he a Commie too? I'm not clear, are these people the enemy?

Do yourself a favor & read the Koran & tell me if there is ANYTHING "peaceful" about it. Just so you know, there were 6 or 7 insidents in Dallas alone where Mosques were found contributing money to Hamas & othere terrorist networks.

Who is my enemy? There are several million Muslims that live in peace every day. Are we to judge them all by the acts of a few? What about Christians that murder in the name of Jesus? Just like the Korna, there's a ton of violence in the Christian Bible. Should I be suspect of Christians too? What about the Catholic church that knowingly allowed pedophiles to abuse children under their care? Certainly people that allow that to happen to children must be my enemy. Who is my enemy?
