I went to see Hancock yesterday.
"What does this remind you of?" *holds up comic book cover w. super-hero in front*
"Homo."
"This?" *holds up another cover*
"Homo in tights."
*nods* Yep. That's what they all look like.
Funny, I always thought his eyes were black, not white...

Spidey looks like a homo in tights? Nope, his eyes are big and white.

I saw it yesterday, and it was pretty freaking funny! I can honestly say I've never seen a man's head shoved up another man's ass before!

About the masking and the vectors and such? Well, rastor is like a regular jpeg-type pic, that, when you blow it up, it looks pixelated. A vector is done with the pen tool, and it's done by plotting points, so it looks smooth no matter how much you screw with it. Generally, Photoshop handles rastors and Illustrator does vectors, but you can fake a vector pretty well in PS (which is what I do, cuz I'm a cheater )
A layer mask simply blocks off a part of a layer, so that you can color freely without worrying about screwing up part of the pic. I'm just starting to wrap my head around all of this stuff, man. I was trained in pencil, ink, and paint, but these days I sneak most of my drawing and coloring in at my day job, so it's a lot easier to work on the sly if I do it digitally.

Nice work! Did you find yourself using a lot of masking? ...and was this vector or raster?

A little of both, actually. I used the pen tool for the webs, eyes, and the cuts in the costume, and I used the brush for lines that needed a bit more character. A lot of people can do it all vector and make it look brush inked, but I just don't have the knowlege or the patience for that. As for masking, I just lock the transparent pixels of a layer instead. It's lazy, I know, but it works for most things Thanks for commenting!
