Description
Basically, my take on Cyclops is just a mash-up of my favorite two of his costumes. First, Jim Lee's take is has got to be the definitive Cyclops for EVERYONE of my generation. Second, there was the one he was wearing right before that in X-Factor. I always loved that one. So I just mushed those two together and...voila!Related content

I'm guessing you're a child of the '90s as well?

Hahah, you'll get no argument from me! I didn't really get into comics until the '90s, though, aside from the odd Superman or TMNT comic.

I like it. Though i think the short sleeves give a more casual look to it (not a bad thing) maybe having the hair open would flow with that?

Hmmmm...you make an interesting point. Honestly, I think I might prefer long sleeves and the head cover to having his hair out. But then again, I'm not totally opposed to him having hair (after all, I grew up in the Jim Lee X-men era).

same here. And either one makes a good look. short sleeves are just tricky with costume design

Great stuff! Yeah, the Lee era custom was great, and I like that you put the skullcap back on. That was the one thing about Lee's version I never liked. Great pose; classic Cyclops!

I didn't know he ever had a skull cap until like a year after I started reading X-men. I was like "why did they take that off? He looks cool with it!"

Very cool. Much better than his new red reboot look. Who thought that was a good idea?

Probably the same person who thought the black costume with the huge golden gauntlets would look good

There was an instance in Ultimate X-Men way back when that he wore something similar to this. It was a one-time thing, drawn by a guest artist, but I loved the mix of old and new, just like this. Scullcap Cyclops has always been a favorite of mine, and you've got a great blend. Great work, as to be expected from you, buddy!

Thanks, man! I actually think I might have pulled the short sleeves from Ultimate X-men without realizing it. Wait...in the issue you're talking about, did Cyclops and Wolverine go to the Savage Land by themselves (I think Kitty sneaks onto the Blackbird, too)? Was the guest artist Kaare Andrews?

I think so! It was a more animated style (which I loved) and I remember them...spelunking? Haha I think that was it.

Yeah, that's the one! The only reason I bought that entire trade was for Kaare Andrews' art. That dude is amazing.

Thank you very much, sir! This is actually a sketch that I did in a sketchbook for somebody, so that accounts for the sketchiness Glad you like the combo!
