Description
This was originally a commission that went unpaid and unfinished, but I liked the basic body so much that I decided to salvage it. The legs were pretty thick in comparison to the rest of the body, so my options came down to either Nicki Minaj or The Flash. I chose to draw the one with the least outlandish outfit
I'm imagining that this is Wally West as The Flash, so I took a few cues from my beloved Young Justice toon's Kid Flash. Lately, I've been completely obsessed with Injustce: Gods Among Us, so you'll probably notice a few nods to that version as well.You can buy the original 11x17 on ebay [link]

The Nicki Minaj comments provoked le lulz.
I'm digging the thoroughly modern footwear and to-the-wrists gloves, and how the forearm bolts mirror the Adonis Belt design on the waist. The relief-&-faceted chest icon,Β the vent holes and the clever golden suggestions of Serratus Anterior also work it.
And goggles? Why the hell not?

I think the design on this works better than the one in the DCnU.

Thanks, man! I'm really not a fan of the DCnu suit. Like most of them, it has a lot of extraneous lines. And Flash's extra lines are yellow, which just makes them stick out more and takes away any cohesiveness the design might have had.

Or personality. I found it odd that many of them had all these thematically similar and complicated seam lines. I thought for the majority of the DCnU characters that Jim Lee designed, that it detracted from their costumes. For Batman and Wonder Woman, it worked; for Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern, it didn't.

Word is that originally Geoff Johns wanted to make multiple Flash titles like he did with Green Lantern - one for Wally, one for Barry, etc. similar to how Hal had one & the other Lanterns were in other titles (Guy & Kyle in GLC, Alan in JSA & John in JLA or wherever he can find space) - but apparently Dan DiDio didn't want that - and this was AFTER Johns himself had had a successful run on Wally West, revitalizing him at a time when his sales slumped. I didn't used to hate Barry but after Flashpoint, which erased Wally via Barry's involuntary manslaughter due to time travel shenanigans, I can't respect Barry or accept him as the "lovable blue collar everyman" DC wants me to believe he is, which is pretty much how I reacted to learning that Spider-Man sold his marriage to the devil just to keep his withered, 104 year old aunt alive (and now he's dead until the next movie comes out - see how that worked out for him).
Lord knows how long it'll take to get Wally back now... and I'm probably in the minority of people who is NOT impressed by Francis Manapul's New 52 Flash, which I'm now avoiding (and trying to avoid Barry as much as possible). The writing's really poor and the artwork is hideous. :thumbs down to Manapul and Barry:

If I wasn't already going to favorite this because the artwork is awesome, I definitely would have favorited it for your commentary. I totally laughed out loud and called my brother over to read it aloud to him. We both agree that you did an amazing job here! Definitely looks like Wally! I like the little costume redesigns you did as well.
