I find something about this photo very striking, and on reflection think that it's probably how it is very heavily weighted to the right combined with the diagonal. It gives the image a tension that really draws attention to it.
Yay for texture rape! It all actually looks fairly natural, really. It's far too easy to overdo texture (but you did not!).
