You know, I'm honestly very happy and very proud that this page has grown to the size and visibility it has. In that time, I have reworked and reforged my old story ideas and have been welcomed into a community of fiction writers and illustrators. There are a lot of people here that I would describe as friends.
With that said, this year saw the change of one of my characters from a male to a female. The protagonist of Virtue was rewritten from Arthur Collins to Gwendolyn Collins. During this time, and without my knowledge, Marvel was releasing a series called 'Spider Gwen', an alternate history where Gwen Stacy inherits the spider powers instead of Peter Parker.
Both of the Gwen characters are young. Both of them are blonde. They both have super powers. They differ in last name and eye color (Gwen Collins has green eyes rather than blue). Gwen Stacy is comfortable being feminine. Gwendolyn Collins prefers to be a tomboy. Still, there seems to be more that relates them than differentiates them. So...

She's only been black once. The rest of the time, she's been a sickly grey or dark blue/grey. Look at Vorahk ;he has black armor.
Lastly, if I had the right parts, Samus's helmet WOULD be a motor cycle helmet.

The character in gray is a creation of mine named 'The Heretic'. She's a woman who came across a living suit that bonded to her and now she's on the run from a group that calls themselves 'The Divinity Party'.
