For my new FanFiction, where Red from HGSS meets Ash, episode 1. Ash is 10 years old, and I think Red is around 15?This snapshot is somewhere along the road, where they've grown quite close as Red, ever strong and silent, teaches Ash how to be a great Pokemon Trainer. Ash sometimes doesn't agree with Red, and angrily stubborn, protests the criticism. In response, of course, Red just smiles and pats Ash on the head. xD
Note the two Pikachu'. Can you guess the Natures of Red's Pika / Ash's Pikachu? xDDD
I'm very proud of this one! I think it turned out awesome. Still, concrit would be welcome.9 hours, over 4 drafts.

It's because some people think he's a complete failure as a Trainer because he can't win a League (that's in the games) and are sick of him being the protagonist of every series.
I personally don't mind it at all, and while him not winning a single regional League is a bit sad, he's definitely not a loser.

I don't see Red as Ash's enemy I see him more as a Mentor/Older Brother figure to Ash.

I liked Ash in the beginning, but it gets really irritating that he never grows up. I guess their target audience is consistently the same age group, so old fans start to grow out of the fandom when we grow older and Ash doesn't. Still, it works.

I'm more of a Red fanboy these days. Ash was alright, in the old anime, but now he's not all that cool anymore.

Maybe because he released him to make them happy? He released Butterfree to make babies with the pink Butterfree, he almost released Pikachu to live with the wild pikachu, he released Charizard so he could become stronger, I could go on forever.
