Description
's Marion vs. Aldones***
Aldones begins his adventure in the old wing of the Everafter Asylum. He has been waiting there for a few days, and spent most of that time devising strategies while focusing his mind through mystic sand mandalas. Marion the puppet girl stumbles upon our protagonist and soon they are recounting tales of younger days (Marion, 16. Aldones, 15.) Aldones provokes a battle, which allows him to utilize his new alchemical mantra scroll-darts to activate Marion's chakra, stealing control of her "strings". He then summons the Vodoun loa, "Simbi d'l'eau" to sever the connection, effectively giving Marion her freedom. In gratitude Marion offers to help him free himself as well, but Aldones declines, preferring not to drag another soul into the jaws of the Old Ones.

i have to say your character had alot of potential there and your art style is something that would have been fun to see

Very nice. I like the plot, since I've always been interested in Lovecraftian stuff like this. And I think your character is very neat. Having a character who's one of the Old Ones is definitely a divergence from what kind of characters you usually see in tournaments of this sort.

Aldones was still a half-realized comic idea when I saw the battle, so I entered him as I had the most interest in him at the time. I really do hope to do a full comic for him... maybe a series...?
I think I can promise some more Lovecraft in this next battle...

Thanks. I'm a little guilty to be appropriating the Simbi d'leau for my purposes, as I do respect the Vodoun religion, but this is an act of fiction not meant to represent the reality of any belief system.
This loa was listed among those who might be called upon for more nefarious works like making a zombi. Aldones is referred to as a Bokor-- "one who serves the loa with both hands".
