Description A work in progress.

This was my final project for a Photoshop I class. It's not that good of an introductory to photoshop, but I was limited to demonstrating only the things we went over in class, and so I hand-picked the important/interesting topics to me.

I'll eventually add more colors and refine my drawings.

Enjoy!

Sorry, I'm super late but I just wanted to comment on how cute, funny, and well done this tutorial is.Β The instructions are so clear and helpful to this digital art newb. Downloaded Β . I hope you got an A! - Also, I've been sifting through your old stuff. Thank you so very much for posting them! I feel less nervous about my own progress. It's inspiring to observe how far you've come : o)

Also, I hope there are foresty art pieces in the works *crosses finger*. Seems like you enjoy all things space and galaxies. What about a intergalactic forest with portals and coves and underwater tunnels? I'm just being silly now.

Nah, you're right on the money. Β I'm developing a game right now, and since it's space-themed, I will definitely be doing a lot of exotic planet scenery. Β I will be posting those as progress permits.

Also, I wish I could do this tutorial better justice. Β Everything I covered was a brief recap on what we had learned that semester, but there's a LOT more to say about each topic I touched. Β Regardless, I'm glad it was still able to help you. Β I can answer questions if you have anything specific you're wondering about. Β Good luck in the meantime!

Ah, did you get anything out of this draft tutorial? Let me know if you want me to go over anything in detail.

Yes I did, I'm pretty new to photoshop so your basic tutorials are fantastic. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and if I get stuck on something I'll be sure to come back and pester you about it.

I've never really used layers before, mostly because no one has shown me how to use them and because I get confused easily. So this was especially great for simple me.
The cute little illustrations only helped.

If you could spare the time, could you maybe do another tutorial in the future on painting hair in photoshop?

I'm not good enough at painting hair to create a tutorial for it. I refer to tutorials on the web and on dA to paint hair.

`adonihs has a great brush pack and some can be tweaked to paint hair. [link]

oh my, this is a killer tutorial. As in long. But it's really, really informative. I will have to experiment with these things a little - I've never even bothered with channels, nor had any idea that the selection process was so...sensitive. O_O. Thanks for letting me know about it! Have a llama badge.

haha, thanks for the badge. XD

Yeah, I used to get scared/frustrated with Channels when I accidentally modified the panel in any way. I'd be like, "Ahhh! What's going on!?"

But anyway, if you learn to use them well, you can get your selections to be perfect, just the way you want them.

Also, Refine Edge..., as a selection option (when you have a selection active), works wonders for smoothing out your edges.

Have fun learning/experimenting!

I will be sure to test those things out as soon as I start my next drawing! I'm mostly into traditional art, so my focus is mainly there. That's probably only because I'm not comfortable with photoshop! If I power through your recommendations, though, I'll probably be less intimidated! I will test! Thank you so much for the advice

You're quite welcome.

Ah, well I respect traditional art a lot more. I think it's quite commendable that you're focusing on it.
But, yeah, if you get more familiar with Photoshop, it'll work wonders for you!
