Description ~flafineitor-x suggested that I start drawing characters from my random story. So I did. This is Worgen, Dwarven Infantry Commander. I suppose he'll stop staring at you when you stop staring at him.. He doesn't really like people staring at him.

6H, 4H Pencils, .25mm Archival Ink, Photoshop 7. 11 hours total.

(EDIT 3-2: Fog, shading, BG.)

cuuute, are you a cartoonist because you should be one, your trolls (i dont know what you call them) are cute and you should just make cartoons.

They're dwarves.

Erm... I guess I'm a cartoonist...

(Glad you like them!)

I agree that illustrating the characters is an excellent idea! Oh, Worgen has double-ax action, too! I don't mean to stare at him, but he's really cool and I want to! I like the old crusty blood staining his attire, too. It's like he just got back from battle and is like, "WTF you looking at?"

The only critique that I can offer on this is where/how he's standing. He looks like he is floating about the "ground". The dark smudges at his feet look like they could equally be a shadow of his floating form or some battle sludge that he just tracked across the kitchen floor.

Bleh, I'm not to good with form shading, and I think that's also a product of the way I drew his boots, but thanks. Glad you like it!

Aww he's so cute!

I like what you've done with the colouring - you've managed to increase the shading complexity without eroding the cartoon effect - I like it

Multiply and Screen modes are a good tip, set at low opacity

GH-MoNGo In reply to Allyboodevil [2006-02-18 18:02:06 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I use Colour Burn and Screen, but I have to use different layers because my perfectionist mindset makes it so that I'm always clearing layers if I'm not satisfied with them.

Thanks for the tip, though.

Dude you are getting way better on the coloring, I like the use of darker colors, it helps. Also I am seeing more detail. Thats good.

GH-MoNGo In reply to dragonfish09 [2006-02-18 08:24:22 +0000 UTC]

Heehee, thanks!

I'm finally getting the hang of PS, and I discovered that you can actually change the brush type, not just the size.

(That always helps... wow I'm so stupid! )

wow! great work! u did a great job on the shading! and the details are great too. i'd add some rough lines to the axes so they'll look more threatening and worn.

Lol, it looks as though he's been caught in the act of something.

The right arm looks a little too straight and on an odd angle (imo). Great work, nonetheless!
