Description
Rocko the Gnoll, thinking about something. I'm not sure what it is.Trying out new techinques and materials. A recent addition to my palette for acrylics is Chrome Tin Oxide (PBr24), which resembles Yellow Ochre (PY43) without the green undertone. It's very good in mixtures and very opaque. PBr24 is offered by two commercial manufacturers in Acrylics: Talens Rembrandt and Winsor & Newton Finity.
Acrylics on Crescent 310 Cold Press Illustration Board.

A great portrait... and by the way, we've got a dog VERY much like this. The face expression fits perfectly. We took him from animal shelter and so far I haven't known a thing about his past; now I know he's Rocko the Gnoll's son.

I loved it a year ago and I still love it. Could be a piece for the Louvre.
Seems like he thinks about something sad or depressing.

You're welcome, mate! Keep up that awesome work.
It's sad that such good pieces got a small klick rate here. As said in your Enydimon collab: Needz moar klickz!
Don't let it get you down.
Did you ever think of making an exposition at a cartoon con or trade show or something?

I am really digging the brush strokes and all the earthy tones used. I love the painted portrait look while still using a cartoon style.

Great eyes and use of brown tones! Have you ever heard of Walter Moers? I think you would love the strips and characters of him

Wonderful overlapping of colors to create a scruffy effect. I think you have a real talent with faces, and I love his worried expression. Keep up the great work!

This picture is awesome.
I've never seen such a cute Gnoll.
Hey, GH Mongo, are you interested in drawing figures for a videogame?
My mate and me are making a videogame in an egyptian setting. (Anubis and stuff)

Heh, I love his expression. (And how everyone seems to interpret it differently...)
All the crits I can think of have already been mentioned...
So I guess I'll just instead.

That so ...cute? Almost sad expression. Eh, don't really know the right word, but I like it.
Your whole gallery, acutally. Definitely original, and you have a lot of skills!

Not every day you come across Gnolls with such a thoughtful stare.

Nice work.
My first impression was that he looks like he has suddenly come to feel remorse for his violent gnollish ways.
"And what happened then...?
Well... in Elf-ville they say
That the Gnoll's small heart
Grew three sizes that day!"
(apologies to Dr. Seuss.)

You're welcome!
Expressions are the most important thing when it comes to drawing characters, I think. This one is so alive, and fun to watch too.

I love how you draw gnolls, and his facial expression is just marvellous. It's like something decidedly unfortunate has just occurred to him.

I love the form and expression of the face. Nice style and fine tones. Extremely subtle and effective. The soft coloring adds to the mood.
