Description
Illustration Assignment. Long story behind this one: the assignment was to come up with an illustration of the word "blue". Now me being my usual self had to find something "awesome" to do; this is an illustration of a blue moon. A "blue moon" is an event where a full moon cycles through twice in one month; it doesn't happen very often, and that's what coined the expression "once in a blue moon".You know what also happens during a full moon, right?
Watercolour, casein, charcoal, coloured pencil on Crescent 310 Cold Press Illustration board. Minimal adjustments made with Adobe Photoshop CS3.

I did get a good grade on it, so stick-induced bludgeoning won't be necessary. Thank you!

That is freaking awesome! Did you have to put the watercolors down first? I love the colors and soft light/shading. Very effective and quite lovely!

Yes, I started it off with broad watercolour washes, then moved into details with coloured pencil.
Thank you, glad you like it!

During a Blue Moon, not only to werewolves change into a more beastial form but they also find themselves suddenly able to play the piano - which is why he's staring at his hands

hah, I like the gruff look to this. And also the use of blue (appropriate for the subject in your description of course). The claws he has are great too! Maybe I am just a sucker for were-creatures and wolf-men. Awesome work! ^_^

Nice use of the blue palette here, I think you fulfilled the assignment details perfectly, whilst adding an extra dose of awesome to it
I like the dark shading around his facial features, and the emptiness of his eyes...it's truly creepy!

I love the linework and tones. Nice style and fine atmosphere. Lycanthropes are difficult to illustrate, but you did a fine job.
