Description
An Illustration class assignment: produce an illustration to accompany the lyrics to a song of your choosing. The song I chose was "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance. the professor told the class to pick a song that would inspire them, and at first she said my choice of song was "uninspired". I'm not really sure how she's going to like this one considering it contains no allegories to love, references to nature, or visual metaphors.Watercolour on Crescent 310 Cold Press Illustration Board. Original appx. 8" x 10".

part of art critiques is a little bullshitting! "no allegories to love, references to nature, or visual metaphors", yes there is! ahem with sum creative interpretation! 'he is reading his lovers journal and shocked to see what she's saying! there is a wolf, symbol of devouring love and devouring nature! the visual metaphor is the 'feelings' he's experiencing that are coming out by the reading he's undertaking!

hire me, im good!lol i graduated from Cowpie University with a B.A. in B.S. . write those down, they will work if ur pressed for a nexplanation. its just that mine and yours interpretation and concept in this case is so high-browed that ur 'average' artist or teacher isnt learned enough to decipher it, and cant c it for the glorious glory it is! congrats on the deviation even tho u didnt like the nomination so much! and hope u like our new work too!

as my art teacher said many moons ago "art is 25% work and 75% BS". most of the time framing the work with a good verbal preface oftentimes counts for more than the craftsmanship of the art itself.

I love this. It reminds me of reading "The Hobbit" with a flashlight as a (very) small child and being absolutely terrified.

A-. She took off for "unintentional plagiarism", stating that the big green guy in the middle looks too much like one of the monsters from "Where the Wild Things Are".

I think it's a law of physics that art teachers must be extremely vague and make little to no sense. I really liek this pciture, it sort has a similar feel to "Where the Wild Things Are."

I love it, this reminds me of a childrens story I used to read when I was little .. but I can't think of what the name was. Anyways this is really amazing. I love the simply clumy colours and the expressions are so cool.
