"...maybe even find out what a turian-human baby looks like."

Well, this ( ) didn't happen automagically. I'm just assuming Shepard wasn't aware of all the options while busy saving the entire galaxy... again.

And an explanation for the gratuitous amounts of Mass Effect babies appearing all over deviantart:
Nearly all of the ME3 reaction comics I've seen have a female in them, despite the statistics I've been able to dig up placing us as only in the high thirties to low forties percent of the gamer market. I don't doubt that nearly all of these (fill in the blank Mass Effect character) with baby pictures are drawn by women (myself included). Clearly the emotionally devastating ending of ME3 is part of a subtle, insidious, and incredibly long term plot by Bioware and EA to bump up the population of the next generation of gamers. Indoctrination, I say. adjusts tin foil hat

I am loving this background!! I don't play Mass Effect but I might consider it because of the fanbase...I want to know why it's so popular!!

If you do play, definitely start on the first game. I know a lot of people skip it because the graphics aren't as good, and the gameplay is rougher, but if you don't, you miss out on a lot of character development and foreshadowing of events/groups/things that appear later on in the series.

I won't lie, even if they just got a human donor father to get around the biology issue, this is totally headcanon for me. Garrus would be the best daddy.

I will admit, a lot of the good in this for me comes from the idea of how Garrus would react to pregnant Shepard (or at least mine - colonist, sole survivor, paragon). Unlike a good number of other people's Shepards, who seemed to be all about kicking ass and taking names from an early age, Brenna spent most of her first sixteen years taking care of a growing number of younger siblings and helping her parents with farm-type stuff. Also, the extended ending Anderson/femShep conversation that was cut out of the actual game, but has wormed its way into my headcanon... being told she would be a great mother by such a trusted father figure, well, that'd have a huge impact on her.

Yeah, My Garrus Romancing Shep is a Colonist, Sole Survivor, Renegon herself. So without me even meaning to (She's had this personality since ME1), she managed to parallel Garrus nicely as far a philosophy and personality goes. Cifgha's actually an only child because her parents could never carry a child to term again (They were pregnant again when the Batarians came), and she was always incredibly jealous of Ashley for having so many siblings (Which was making her feel REALLY guilty when she came to support Ashley and her sister at the memorial wall).

It's interesting, I wasn't sure she'd ever settle down before ME3, but after talking about it with Garrus AND getting that talk from Anderson (Yeah, my headcanon is that it still happened too), I think the idea of settling down and starting a family would actually bring her story to a very satisfying ending. Between Garrus as the doting dad and Shepard as the Momma Bear who makes sure her kids are hard working and tough as nails, and the callbacks to her childhood that it all implies, I couldn't imagine a better ending, sappy or not.

After everything they've said in all the bars from 1 to 3 about how humans and turians can't even eat the same food (some dextro DNA bull), I would strongly doubt this would even work.

Otherwise, I like the idea.

Correction, that should have said "levo-based if consumed by a Turian". it's past my bedtime. Hurdur. xD

Dextro-amino acids wouldn't actually have that big an impact if consumed by a human, or levo-based if consumed by a human. We've all been eating partially-dextro food all our lives.

Well, in my mind it's a human baby (check out the sketch linked in the description), although its creation is a little complicated.

*heh* Well, I can see this being some people's thing, and I'm sure one of those guys would be happy to "help", but for me that's a big bucket of nope.

Think of it this way - the asari have been spacefaring, and presumably bonding with other species, for over a thousand years. In all that time, there's bound to be more than a few asari bondmates who, while they're happy to raise a few blue daughters, also want biological children of their own. With enough money and determination (and super science), just about anything is possible. What I'm writing... well, it won't be as if Shepard will be the first. Complicated.

It's hard to deny a guy who actually wants a family - not that my colonist Shepard was ever the non-child-having type, if the immediate threats to the galaxy ever let up.

Garrus would make such a good father, too. ME3 totally sold me on that idea! It seems to me that he matured a lot over the course of three games. My spacer Shep, on the other hand, wouldn't know what to do with kids. XD But who can resist daddy!Garrus, honestly?
