Description
The Things that Viv and Murphy like to play with in their lab, as mentioned in their introduction post. These guys have a lil bit more background to them, both in-universe and as character concepts:The critters here were originally one single animal that I did like, one painting and some sketches of, and THAT was repurposed from my very first ever attempt at making a comic. Ultimately I shelved the lab critter because I couldn’t figure out a way to make it work and have all of the traits I wanted but then I came back around to making some vykkers/gross characters for the sake of gross and it seemed like a good opportunity to revisit them. I ended up splitting them into multiple creatures which has worked out much better
- The first critter is Caspar, who primarily gets subjected to skin, eye and ear product testing. Their sight has deteriorated a lot at this point and without their arms (no scratching or picking!) and face whiskers, they bump into things a lot.
- Caspar shares their name w/ the sphynx-cat-lookin’ protag of that original comic I mentioned and also shares a lot of visual similarities w/ both that protag and the lab critter that was the precursor to these three. The other two got most of original Caspar’s purpose/functions though
- The second is Goblin, who gets… basically anything that might cause a visible reaction in their internal organs. Their abdomen has been altered to be largely transparent. This is less for science and mostly just cuz Viv and Murphy are nasty
- The third is Mutt, an artificial critter hashed together out of the DNA of multiple creatures/species. They were the lucky recipient of Goblin’s legs and Caspar’s arms, both grafted on after artificial “birth”. The legs work pretty good. The arms are temperamental and prone to twitching, atonia, and just straight up not doing as they’re told.
- Mutt is used in experiments centred around interspecies organ transplants and is frequently being opened up to have bits of their insides chopped ‘n swapped. The lumpy flesh on their back exists to provide Viv and Murphy with a source of fresh, benign tissue when they need something disposable for whatever they’re doing.
- (Mutt probably lacks pain receptors on their back/maybe in all of their skin to make the excision process easier)
THAT.... covers most things, I think. It was a fun challenge with these three trying to take into consideration the Oddworld tendency to jump right out of the box and throw it into the sea when it comes to design stuff and idk if I quite managed that level of lateral thinking but I'm still pleased with how they turned out LOL

Great design on them, they kinda recall me the creature from the concept art from the Art of Oddworld. Poor little schmucks...
Great art still ^^
