By the technical definition they ARE Zombies. "True" Zombies aren't actually reanimated corpses, but Sentient creatures who have had most of their higher thought processes removed and are trapped under the sway of a master, usually via the use of creepy magic rituals.

So far there are pretty big major differences, most of which you find out eventually in issue 8
Appearance wise, right off the bat, consist of rotting flesh with tears of pinkish/purple fire spurting out of their bodies, the cyan eyes, the sharp teeth, the symbols on their hands, and the fact that they all belong/serve underneath an almighty god
Normal zombies consist of the common cause of a "Virus" going around where the bot just decomposes, yet the corpse yerns for things like brains and other fleshy part of your body for...some reason.

Is "soulless" basically the same as a "heartless" from Kingdom Hearts?
Because if I remember correctly, a heartless is created by taking away ones heart, and it seems that a soulless is created by taking away the soul.
