Description
The image represents my vision of Morgoth, Tolkien's first Dark Lord. I tried to capture his power and malice, his dark essence rather his physical appearance (which was so masterfully represented by Ted Nasmith, John Howe and few other artists).Related content

Awesome job. Try to capture his fair form when he deceived his fellow Valar

In many ways I wish THIS was how they portrayed Sauron in the films, solely because this was dark and abstract, which he was like his servants (Nazgul) Since his true form had long since been lost (before the ring was taken) I would imagine he would be made of solid shadows which became amorphous and chaotic at random. Morgoth's depiction here is perfect

Sauron's more humanoid form was probably unseen in the tower. Nobody ever said the Eye was entirely Sauron's form, they just said it was the 'face' of it.

If your goal was to capture Morgoth's dark essence, you absolutely succeeded. The way you've portrayed him oozes malevolence and drips with evil. As a lover of all things Tolkien, I absolutely adore this piece. Well done, Gileyrd. Well done, indeed.

You know, while reading 'The Silmarillion' I never really could picture his appearance inside my head.
Unil now, that is. Amazing job

See...if THIS was the guy causing all the crap in the end of the Third Age, Frodo and his little pals would have been dead in about the first fourth of the first book.
I mean, c'mon, Sauron got beat by a midget, his gardner, and a crack-head.

*Walks into a bookstore, burns all the Twilight related books, replaces them with the works of Tolkien, Luis, and other masters kids these days should know about*
Y'know what? When Harry Potter first came out, I thought "Wow...this is just...dumb." Then I got used to it and sorta enjoyed it. Then the Inheritence books (Eregon and such) came out and I thought "Geeze, this is really dumb! Harry Potter is cool compaired to this." But meh I read 'em anyways. And now Twilight....yes well At least the creators of Potter and Eregon KNOW HOW TO WRITE!
o.o Still LotR kills them all easily. Not even a fair fight. Tolkien is a Valar as far as I'm concerned. Those other writers are just human. That Stephanie person (creator of Twilight and such) I'm not so sure about.

I am of the firm belief that humanity is stupid. Ingenous, tenacous, sexy, and even delicous, but overall...stupid.

A very very VERY nice deviantion of Morgoth (AKA Melkor). I'm impressed. When it comes to artistry this is some of the best I've seen. And being an 'Arda Loremaster' has gotten me to know muh about Morgoth himself. In fact, he wasn't just the first Dark Lord, he was the being from which all evil stems. Anyway, keep these drawings up! They look great!

I absolutely love this! You've definitely captured his power, and expressed his evil really well. That is necessary in order to really portray this villain accurately; as he is Tolkien's - quite possibly the greatest fantasy author of all time - equivalent of Satan in the Middle-Earth world(which is what he intended, actually).
