If you are working with the gruze structure (using .gr-top, .gr-box and similar classes) you have to use y.gr-top span {display: none;}.
If you work with the old structure you need to set the font-size of .journaltop to zero OR use as a color transparent. This will also make the journal title go away, so depending on what you did in the first step you have to increase the font-size or set a color for h2 again.

May I ask how, in the custom tab, I have an avatar and I would like some stuff beside it, such as Name, age, ect, so there all together.
However, I'm unsure how to use the float CSS.
Is it possible to make the writing float beside the avatar image, like used in some Journals and such?

I am not really sure what you mean with custom tab. Do you mean the custom widgets you can have on your profile or something in your journal?

Using CSS in custom widgets is a bug, so you can only work with existing dA code. I haven't played around with it much so far, so i can't really give you any advice for that.
You can check #eCSSited , there are some resources that explain the customisation of such widgets, but i not sure if there is something similar to what you want.
Or maybe ask in the forum. Perhabs there is someone who can help you with that.

I have a question. The link at the very bottom of a journal which is gray and says "Skin by..", is this a css command or does DA automatically place it there when someone uses the skin?

It will be added automatically by deviantART when you are using the "Install" option. It was added so that the right people get credited
