I refuse to add "Out" or "Ally" to my pic, because it shouldn't matter at all. Either you like a person or you don't. It shouldn't be judged by their sexuality and personally i don't care what you are.
I don't choose my friends by their sexuality, by their hobbies, by their living... i choose them because i like them, because we get along well etc.
Whatever you are... if it is fine for you, it is fine for me.
People should be accepted the way they are, not the way we want them to be!

but i think the point of national coming out day is to feel able and supported to say: I'm here, i'm queer and i know you'll love me just the same.
it's about not being shy or worried or afraid about your sexuality...because just being able to come out and say it...that's a big deal, and yeah, that does matter.

Of course it is important to be able to say what and who you are without any fear. But imo it's wrong that there need to be such days, because society just doesn't except people the way they are.
My "does it matter" refers to that point, that there shouldn't be a difference made no matter what sexuality someone has. It doesn't matter in relation to good or bad, normal or unnormal etc.
Just last year my cousin told us that he his gay. It didn't make any difference for me. His grandparents threatened him as if he has some strange illness, telling him to go and see some docs etc. They knew him for 26 years and suddenly he was "strange". For such reasons it shouldn't matter. A person is still the same and it shouldn't be any issue for anybody else - only for yourself...
At least in my opinion.

i agree- we should accept people as they are
...but i think until such time that it's an automatic acceptance and a youth doesnt have to worry about coming out that we need to raise awareness that it's /okay/ to come out
days like this are ways to affect change.

I have absolutely no reason to be against raising awareness. It's good to have such days, but like said earlier it sad enough that they need to be there to make people aware of things that should be accepted as normal/being ok/not different...

It's because you said "I refuse" in your Artist's Comments. That sets the reader up to see something negative afterward since refusing is going against something. `StJoan is a writer too, so she probably caught that indicator immediately. I was nosy and read this conversation, then went back to re-read your Artist's Comments to see why it started. Since I did all that detective work, I thought I should add in my interpretation of what just happened.

Well but the "refuse" was connected to adding the words(or to make a difference of people), not to refuse the campaign. And i am no writer nor am i a native english speaker, so it can happen that it sounds different to me than to native speakers - as i often go by the meaning the dictionary gives me.
