This was shot with a Minolta SRT-101 (w/cable release)on 35mm Kodak Tri-X (400) Black and White film, F16/approx. 9-10 seconds, mounted on a SLIK U9000 tripod.The scene you see in this photo is Route 60 in South Charleston, WV, as seen from the South Charleston/Dunbar Bridge, looking towards the end of town near Jefferson.

that really is a nice shot... who knew that south charleston could look so much like an old b&w movie? would have been even cooler if the van on the left was some sort of old gangster looking car.

My professor says anyone can make a night shot work, but I disagree. I think to get the dramatic ones like this one with the two cars standing still and the streaks of light, that you need to have an understanding of how the lights will appear on the film, and a sense of timing so that you can get sufficient streaks and things frozen at the same time.
As for the career, I'm not so sure...nobody's bought a print or requested I make a shot available as a print.

That's because most of us are kids in school or college and can't afford things. I don't think many prints do that well anyway.

I love this effect, my camera isn't good enough to do anything like that, but one day, when i have some more money I will upgrade it!

You realize this was shot on a 1969 vintage 35mm SLR with a $12 cable release and a $50 tripod and not my fancy-shmancy digital right?
