Description
Played by Mary-Louise Parker on weeds. I fell in love with the expression when I first saw it, so I had to paint it. Curly hair like this is much easier (and funner) to paint than straight hair. Go figure. Anyways, this was done in 2 days as usual (haha I'm getting pretty good at this). And to be fair I used a grid for the sketch and the eye-dropper tool for colors, so take that as you will. Oh, and I made a few modifications to the original, such as her left (our right) arm, and the fact that she is no longer wearing any clothes

PS: How did you do the hair? I'm trying to learn to do hair and you just mastered it. Back to fainting.

Hmm, lets see. I usually start with a base color (usually one of the darker ones), and block in some rough highlights. When I'm feeling up to it, I go back to the hair with a smaller brush and paint in the strands. After that I add some scribbles and such to give the hair a more natural look as well as adding some more highlights. It's easier with dark hair like this; blonde hair is much more of a challenge. It takes time to finish, but it's worth it in the end. Good luck

Looks fantastic! And it deserves so much more attention - I know it's new, but only 3 faves?? Argh... *shakes fist* I like drawing curly hair, but I haven't yet figured out how to do it well digitally painting...someday I hope!
