Description
Okay, so there seems to be this little problem nowadays where everyone thinks they're a photographer. The problem is: these "photographers" are showcasing poorly shot images, using terrible lighting, having myspace angles. Yeah, photography this does not make, kids. You can enjoy taking your pictures all you want, but it's not really too artistic.Photographers actually set up an image in order for it to be aesthetically pleasing. There's a lot of work behind getting that perfect shot.
Hobbyist photographers, while they may not take everything into consideration, still use at least composition, lighting, and exposure.
If anyone cares to know what the faster frames say its:
composition, lighting, line, value, shape, form, space, texture, contrast, colour, movement, emphasis, pattern, proportion, unity, perspective, balance, exposure, quality.
These are factors taken into consideration when the photographer is behind a camera. They are the elements and principles of photography, along with a couple other miscellaneous points.
I, personally, want to get into the photography field, but I feel as though I'm not going to be taken seriously due to my age and the various "photographers" in my age bracket that really don't pay too much mind to how things are set up. It's depressing really.
So I decided to make this stamp for my own personal use as there were no other ones that I could find with this sort of message. I hope you guys can find use for it, as well.
Oh, and if anyone goes to look for my photography to see if I have the right to say this and only finds crappy snapshots, that's because this isn't my photo account. XD It's *Mih43l .

I am not a photographer (I like to take pictures though ) but I know what you mean because I see it every day.
Thank you for making this stamp with words that have to be said!

When I do anything I don't think about the technical bullshit that goes a long with it. I just do it. Not just with photography. With everything. Everything has a technical point to doing it but I never think about it while doing it. And when I take photos I take pictures of stuff that I think is beautiful or creative or interesting.
And I actually had a point and shoot camera for the longest time I was taking shots with and I knew that, that camera only took good photos without store lighting (dunno why guess there is more lighting) and outside. So that is the only time I used that camera. I did take some indoor photos but they did not come out as good.
I know I am not a photographer but I still love taking photos. And I feel that a lot of my photos have an artistic edge but that is me. That is my opinion. You may think I am like the rest of those people in that bracket and you may say my photos are not artistic but that is your opinion. What I am trying to say is that art is kind of like beauty it is in the eye of the beholder. You could look at my deviations and say they are shit and not artistic and I could do the same for you. Not saying either one of us has done this (*sobs*) but it happens all the time.
I do agree that myspace shots are not really artistic. I like using those as references though for vectors. Hehe! My sister does a lot of myspace photography. LMAO!

See, this stamp can be a bit harder to understand merely because it may seem to be ripping on anyone who doesn't use technical skill. I know for a fact the only ones I use on a regular basis are composition and exposure. XD Mainly, this stamp is talking about the people who do take myspace photos or ones where not even composition was used and proceed to call themselves photographers.
Those are good references for vectors, though. XD

I agree with you so much.
I may not be the best when it comes to taking photographs, but I at least put effort into trying new things and using different technical elements- it's hard to find a balance to get a photo that you like. xD Love this. <3

true, the only thing they did was took some ordinary picture and call theirselves photographer, just like how many people who only change the hue/color saturation and called it photomanipulation -__-

Someone fimally made a stamp saying this. I love it. So true.
Me, I;'ve fianlyl started calling myself a photographer because I've finalyl got my work up to scartcha dn done enough shoots to deserve it. Before that, I just took pictures, and knew that's all I did. It's a pity that some people can't grasp that :/

I was so shocked to see that there wasn't one already. D:
I personally call myself an aspiring photographer. I'm not a photographer yet, but I'm getting there slowly, very slowly. I'm still a bit nervous about shooting with models, though. :\

Models are fun, and all the ones I've met so far have been really nice! Do you have a Moedl Mayhem account or something?

Not yet. I want to get some formal training before doing anything. A better camera would help, as well. It's not so much the models themselves, it's more the responsibility of properly instructing them to try and match what I'm seeing.

While the emo portraits of the poor little suburban kids of the MySpace sector are very ugh-worthy, I have seen many an adult take horrible, horrible pictures, and then try to pass it off as photography. As in, selling their stuff.
I do try to look at it with a more subjective eye, and I try not to be harsh, because I don't want to tear these people down, but really, sometimes I just don't get it. :/
Nice stamp, though. I would suggest making the text in the beginning bold. It is a bit hard to read. Not that I'm telling you to go fix this, but for future stamps maybe.
Just a suggestion to help you improve.

Oh yes, there are adults who are just as bad. Definitely.
My artist comment just revolves primarily around the younger ages as it's what pertains to me personally.
I know what you mean. A good bit of me just wants to let them have it, but at the same time that seems terribly rude and all.
Thank you very much. ^^
I tried making it bold, but all the letters sort of melted together. >.o I'll definitely take that into consideration for future stamps, though.

I know there are some pictures that are not good quality, but how do you know that those pictures didn't have careful thought behind it? Just because the picture is poor, doesn't mean the "photographer" didn't plan it. Everyone has a general idea of what a photograph could look like, but it really boils down to personal taste.
That said I think your stamp style is cool.

glitchb0t In reply to MissBeastie [2010-07-29 06:08:14 +0000 UTC]
By quality, I meant more along the lines of a clearer image without bad blur and nothing but noise. I took most of this straight from the book, and what makes a good photograph. This stamp is mostly in oppose to the people who just take a picture haphazardly, randomly shooting just for the fun of it and then calling themselves a photographer because they took a picture. If there's actual thought behind it, that's a different case, and if it's not all that great, but they're serious about it, they can try and improve.
Thank you very much, though.

it should read "where everyone thinks they're a photographer."
Now that that's out of the way, awesome stamp! Really drives the point across.

I might not be the best photographer, but I do try to incorporate the basic elements of art into my photos and I am actively working to improve. It's just the same with people taking a picture, slapping a filter on it and saying it is a photo-manipulations.
Very nicely made stamp by the say, smooth animation and I love the use of various fonts.

Yeah, like, I'm so sick of all these kids nowadays taking pictures in their bedroom or random snaps on the street and going "I r photographer! " And of course, there's plenty of idiots who back them up and encourage them, saying that they're "omgsoamazing". *eyeroll*

I know! It's so stupid. I admit that I have no skills, but I at least admit that and I do try to branch out from the myspace angle. (If I've ever done the myspace angle...) The thing is, no matter how little talent one person has, another person has less, and so they'll look up to anyone with more than their own amount.

glitchb0t In reply to hamterpants [2010-07-27 06:16:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the work behind photos is, like, ridiculous. Not EVERYTHING has to be included, of course, but more pro-looking photos require several of the elements and principles to be in it. The main one being, of course, composition.
I hate myspace angles. >.<
