Description
Finished another commission, this time of MMX fan character, Aya . Since she requested Aya to be sitting atop slain Mavericks, I thought I could use the opportunity to include all of my old fan Mavericks from waaaay back on my Mechadrake gallery , including Solar Sphinx, the precursor to Aurora Sphinx. It was fun revisiting these Mavericks again, but there's something to be said about KD's character killing all of mine. Should I be worried?

I could barely make out Wreck Roach here, and two holograms I can't see behind Aya. Speaking of KD's character taking out your mavericks...I dunno, really. Then again (although I get the reference with Solar Sphinx being unlocated), Aya defeating all those mavericks singlehandedly makes her quite a force to be reckoned with.

I 'reckon' you're right. (Arf!) The two obscured holograms are Magnum Coyote and Arctic Ram. Out of the eight Maverick mugshots I drew, I liked those two the least and just hid their screens behind Aya.

Figures. Speaking of which, I thought Solar Sphinx was my personal fave among your mavericks. Btw, I noticed Stealth Viper and Night Sprite are absent among the mugshots.

Ah. Judging from the look on Aya's face, though, I have a feeling that mercy won't happen to Solar Sphinx if she DID find the latter. Well, I guess I can see how some people see Maverick Hunters as the "shoot first, ask questions later" type of people.

Wow, amazing job! Great composition with the holograms floating around her, my favorite part of the pic actually. It seems everyone is defeated exept Solar Sphinx who is unlocated, got a soft spot for her?
I remember your old mavericks and I still consider them to be one of the best fanmade mavericks ever because they look so official (at least in my opinion). Will you draw them again (in a non-disposed-of-way XD)?

Why should you be worried? You got a chance to draw characters you've not drawn in awhile from my understanding and I hope not for the last time. They look pretty neat from what I can see!

At first glance without looking at the name of the picture, I thought this was Aile sitting on something weird with a sinister look on her face, closed up now I see its a fan character
Also, you shouldn't be worried about Aya murdering all of your creations, I've done it plenty of times on characters I never liked but still made.

Atlas-Kei didn't design her, I just thought she was an amazing artist and could do a character sheet for Aya as I lacked one at the time and wanted to have her drawn more. ^^ I wanted a character sheet because I kept noticing the length of her coat would be different every time or the diamond on her chest would change sizes; little things like that that could easily be fixed with a character sheet. =3
When I first started to have Aya drawn by other artists I wanted it to be at a point in her story where she started to use the alias Red Coat. So I asked konpeito-ko if she would be able to draw her based off description, previous references of the character herself and the coat itself. XD; [link] this was the first result though I only really wanted black in her bangs and not through her hair. But that's what I get for not being descriptive enough. >< It was interesting to describe and draw because I wasn't sure if I would even like the change from her original black armor that she still wears under the coat. I did try other colors but the same thing with 'oh hey she looks like...!' kept coming up there too so I decided to stick with red and I've liked the change ever since.
That is the first time I've seen her referenced to Aile though. XD; I think Alia because she's blond too? TT -notsure-

No no, you're not mistaken, she DOES look like Alia, I just didn't play the MMX games in quite a while so I forgot the name of that specific operator (and yet I still remember Pallete and uhm ... oh right Layer)
