Description
One of the biggest character arcs for Tails earlier in the comic series was the build-up for what his uncle Merlin predicted was his great destiny. After brief glimpses at Tails' hidden power, it finally culminated in the milestone issue #150 when all the Tails across the multiverse merged together to form... this... thing...... Titan Tails !It's easily one of the strangest creations I've seen from Archie, and Titan Tails hasn't reappeared since. Was your reaction to this monster closer to Tails' adoration or Sonic's "DO NOT WANT!" moment?

I see that in a lot of Sonic stories these days. The ending to the recent "Spark of Life" arc was also a downer .

I was hooked by that story arc and looked forward to what they were planning with it. Heck Tails even got his own "nemesis" out of it named Mammoth Mogal. This part seemed like a rushed ending, something to just quickly tie up the story and forget it. They even tried to "revive" it when Tails and Shadow merged all the chaos emeralds.
For this particular part, I was ok with the muscles, the name didn't bother me. My only problem; that face. The face/head completely ruined it.

Do not want, but I operated on the idea that Titan Tails's... "unique" look was simply a way for him to access the multiverse of Tailses combined powers without having to sacrifice a counterpart's existence. It probably also had something to do with Super-Captain-Turbo-Fox-Man's original appearance as well.
Not that this excuses Archie's sheer lack of aesthetic appeal. You would think the artist in Tails would be throwing up all over himself. (Or maybe he's just tired of looking like a fluff ball.)

Turbo Tails was a less sickening, but still painfully unimaginative super form. It was basically Tails wearing a red cape, which reminded me of Superman's crappy pets. And speaking of sacrifices, remember that issue where Mammoth Mogul made a clone of Turbo Tails, who then quickly disintegrated at the end? It was supposed to tug our heart strings, but it was so hokey and poorly drawn (thanks, Ron Lim) that it just ended up laughable. Tails has had a bad rap in the super form business.

Funny thing is that when Turbo Tails first appeared, his fur was the same colour as Fiona's, and the cape was blue, and only worn to disguise himself.
Also, the Tails clone replaced the real one for a while, while Mogul imprisoned the real Tails to use him as a battery. When the real Tails was freed, the clone faded away. It was supposed to be sad, since we'd actually had fake Tails around for a while, but because they didn't do enough to give him an identity, and Sonic didn't seem to care, it fell flat.

Don't forget the "super form" Tails that was just him with a Sonic 1-styled invincibility aura.

Hyper Knuckles is just Knuckles with hair extensions. Ironically the one who got the most drastic change was Metal Sonic. I think Superman was supposed to be the inspiration for Turbo Tails's final look, an indication of what a child like Tails would see in a superhero. Personally, I think the addition of the super flickies makes for a better super form for Tails, lets him get tactical over simply faster or stronger like his friends.
Yeah, clone Tails was poorly done, not just in the art style but in the reveal. There was no real build up beyond Merlin (I miss that character) realizing Tails wasn't Tails. Clone Tails didn't even get to do anything significant or personal between the time he replaced Tails and the time he "died," rendering him little more than background for the duration of his arc. Can you imagine what it might have meant had it been the clone who received that holo-watch with Tails's parents' image in it? But even that could have been salvaged if the artwork had been good enough to let him show some real emotions during the story. Heck I've seen some fan writers redo the story with so much more emotion and punch than the official writers and artists did. It was just such wasted potential for what could have been a very touching story.
