Description
So, a labor's day, eh?That's Patlabor for you, the only mechs awesome enough to get a holiday named after them. Without the bullfuck Griffon storyarc it'd be labor's month.
(I know the script quality jumps all over the place in the series, but not even Mamoru Oshii could salvage the black supermech piloted by a snot-nosed brat. It made Gundam Wing look cool)
I had no idea what to do with the background and it shows.

AWSOME!! patlabor rules.. But yea the J9 Griffin is a bit corny.. taking out the NEAR UNSTOPPABLE AV-0's without effort.. (WTF In the first movie the Type 0 was godly) And busted up all 3 ingrams!

Background is sweet. Or I just have a thing for hexes.
Still think the hands look a bit small. The posing and detail on the labors is great.

Special Vehicles Unit 2. βNot your ordinary cops, more likeβ¦ Super Heroes.β
Love the first two movies (Havenβt been able to see the series yet.) This is fitting tribute, I applaud.

Patlabor rocks! I've seen the movies and the first series. Good image, lots of lights and detail, really captures the spirit of the stories.

Yet another series I've vowed to watch but never got the moment to do so. Of course, the way it's advertised by the companies over here, this Griffon jackoff is the main thing they're pushing. It's nice to know it's not the only storyline in the series.

For the optimal Patlabor experience just grab the first two movies. The 3rd is ok too, I suppose, but not required.
Then if you end up liking it enough (which is easy to do with the movies being awesome) you can decide if you want to start alternating between impressed and confused with the series. There's a lot of great technical detail and creative use of equipment, and then there's the motherfucking Griffon.

So movies, first, then the series. I'll do that.

A shock rod, fries the electronic systems of the target. Like a lightning strike on your PC.

Huh, an effective weapon. I would be sooo pissed if an enemy mech defeated me with those.

In case you're not familiar with Patlabor, those are mechs utilized by police designed to subdue targets while minimizing damage to the surroundings and to the target itself. The cannon the unit-02 is holding for instance is utilized only against major threats and preferably far away from urban areas.
The AV-98 Ingram itself is built to be fast and nimble so it can overcome industrial mechs (most likely target) by agility instead of brute force or by blowing them to pieces.
In theory, that is. In practice Patlabor has more mechs beating each other to scrap with their own limbs than the combined amount of some other mech series.

Beating? Each other into flying pieces of scrap?
I must watch this anime.

Patlabor, one of the more successful takes on realistic mechs, from the late 80s to early 90s.
3 separate series and 3 movies, the first two of the latter directed by Mamoru Oshii and thus default to fucking awesome. He was also on board the crew for most of the series, though I guess spent some time in a coma or something for the Griffon story arc to get green-lit.
Never heard the Brave Police before but quick googling didn't indicate much connection to Patlabor.

I see. Pretty nice. I have seen some pictures and videos of it. Looks like my fav type of mecha.
Brave police also deploy police robots, its just that they somehow bear a little resemblance.
