Description
My submission for Round 2 of the IDW Covers Contest. Let me know what easter eggs you can find. Here is the scenario we were to illustrate a cover for:
Marissa Faireborn, Beachcomber and Bluestreak are investigating a series of disappearances in the Canadian city of Vancouver in the summertime. What horrible secret will they uncover that could turn the whole world against the Autobots?
RULES:
- Marissa Faireborn must be the focus of this cover, with Beachcomber and Bluestreak being “support” characters. You are free to choose which mode to display Beachcomber and Bluestreak in. The reader must also be able to identify the location. This story is set in the IDW continuity, so designs should suit this.
-Finished pictures are to be inked line-art and “ready for color.”

Wow! That's an amazing looking cover. One of the best I've seen in these contest. Hope you win. You have a great eye trace going on.

I'm not sure exactly what "You have a great eye trace going on" means but it sounds like a good thing, right?
Thanks guys! XD

Eye trace is just a fancy art lingo for good composition XD Like how everything is so nicely balanced that your whole eye goes through the rule of thirds making it very awesome to look at. And nothing is really getting you distracted, which is really hard to do on a comic book cover that has so many things going on. You did it perfectly!

Cool, that's what I thought you meant. Back when I went to art school we always referred to it as "eye movement."

I *almost* voted for this one in that category. Twas one of the last three in my whittling down. (and considering I disregarded half of them off the bat, that's a good spot to be in!).
There were a few I just disregarded based on not meeting the requirements of looking like they were in Vancouver...

Yeah, I found Vancouver to be rather difficult to make identifiable. One of the few distinctive buildings I could find was the Harbour Centre, and using that required finding as much photo reference as possible since I wanted to make sure that my viewpoint wouldn't be missing any buildings that should be there or whatever.

Some people copped out and just drew mountain roads or indiscriminately threw buildings down so it looked like any city.

Yeah, hopefully they'll play a part too. Hopefully it will say also that while the Autobots are holding back from defending themselves too forcefully, they aren't exactly in too much danger. So while the humans are rioting over the Autobots, Marissa's in a position where she has to get to the bottom of what's driving people so crazy. And what does it have to do with disappearances? Were these people abducted and brainwashed to hate the Autobots? Hmmmm..... maybe, maybe not.

Now this certainly looks very good. The 'Bots don't look as if they're going to be playing second fiddle to Marissa, even if she is in the foreground. It hints that, in the story, Marissa might be the central character, but that doesn't mean Bluestreak and Beachcomber won't be playing any important roles, either.
All in all, this is a fantastic entry. Good luck with the contest!

Wow, I love your take on this! Did a good job setting it in Vancouver, and I love the cameos .
Seems funny to see people who are likely supposed to be Canadian acting all riot-y and violent . I won't take it personally though
.
Awesome job!

Hehe, I'm getting told to slag off by Bluestreak!
Great job Andrew. You gonna color this for later? It ain't quite Marissa without that stoplight hair color of hers.
Awesome of you to put Josh, Simon and I in there... bizarre as it is that I'd take a bat to an Autobot. Hilarity!
