Tell me a story.--
I don't consider this one of my best pieces. I am just at a dead end with it.

I really like these pieces. They subjects are all from before the pop art period, but they have that sort of pop art feel to them.

Thank you. I always enjoy commentary with some thought put into it. That's really a great compliment for some reason to me. I try to do something different with keeping the same style everytime...it's good to know that some people appreciate it, and for different/good reasons (in my opinion).
Thanks.

this is gorgeous technically nick. honestly. the compositioning is impeccable. the color fields are smart and sophsticated. the ghost man introduces a HUGE element of visual intruige... and im quite impressed that you found such a eccentric application for the ywft eagle. usually you have such powerful content behind your work that i rarely notice how skilled you are technically... but uve managed to catch my eye this time.
a side comment... i notice that you chose to break one of your primary rules: having all eyes/faces pointing towards the center of the composition. this piece has quite the opposite: the lady is not only looking outward, but it touching an element that is completely out of the vision of the viewer.... interesting to see you make the choice to deviate from your pre-established rule system . hehe
wonderful work nick love the appluase box :applause:

Wow thanks for the incredible comment, man.
You swelled my head big time on this one.
As for my pre-determined rules...I find it inspirational to try to break them and still make a piece of art that I am proud of.
Hehe.
I'm sure you understand.
It's kind of like...every artist has a set of rules, and those rules change and become more refined as the artists does the same.
Techniques are a different story.
They come and go and show up in the weirdest places for me.
I love increasing the size of my technical library though.
I still can't believe it's only been a year since I signed up for dA.
Not even.
And I've learned so much from everyone here.
Meeting people like yourself who truly take pride in what they create, and how the comment, and grow as an artist.
It's really rad.
*tear*
Haha I'm glad you like this man.
It's grown on me since I uploaded it out of spite for not being able to do anything else with it.

i had an art teacher (my favorite to date actually) that once said that its an artists job to first learn and apply the rules, and then to break them... but only in that order.

That's an awesome saying.
I'll definately remember it.
Smart teacher.
I love teacher's that say things like that.
Instead of saying things like "Well I don't think we're gonna get through unti 8 but don't worry about it I won't test you on it."

i so adore your style, such a great collage style, keeping a smooth transition between pieces and encorporating a wonderful vividness of color and texture. Great job!

Well I make some of the textures in Photoshop, I scan others. And the pics I get from Google image searches. Just last night I went through 30 pages of thumbnails saving anything I thought looked like something I could use.
Anyway, thanks.

Oh man, I was about to give a title like "The Man Who Wasn't There", but I see you have already mentioned that somewhere The guy seems too "fit" for a businessman. Maybe she indeed has reasons to worry herself. She is one of those elegant women who are irritatingly into savoir vivre and I bet he's had enough of her and her psychocompulsion in keeping everything neat and tidy in the closet, in the ways to hold spoon and fork, and I'm sure he was obliged to sleep in the backyard if he ever farted in bed. Not to mention sexual position variations... No wonder she is now in need of petting.
Graet retro colours and I love the off-center framing with the texture on the right.
The lady works now as a telemarketing model for hair-curling apparatus, and the only applause she gets is the fake one of the audience, guided during the ad shooting by that sign...
Phewwww

First she had no idea what she would wear. After all, among the lazy flour, there were no shadows. It means she was all alone with her cosy coma eyes.
Then, in a mere question of two seconds, the redeemable gesture of her right minimum finger made her understood she wasn't the most important space of the room: applause.
(I
