Hello! I have had several requests for a tutorial, so here it is! I hope it is helpful to someone! Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you would like me to do a tutorial for something else. I definitely am no expert, but I can at least show you how I do it. If it helps someone, then I am happy.
Additional Notes:
Eyes: I forgot to mention... when adding the irris and pupil of the eye, unless your character is surprised, the top of both should disappear into the upper eyelid. If you can see the whole irris, or there is white around the top, your character may look a bit shocked.

I also noticed guys usually have a larger mouth with thinner lips (but it's not always the case)
And in some cases (when he/she's androgynous), it can be difficult to tell if it's a man or a woman
