After I submit animations people note and they note bout how to do things.. and I guess if you note enough... I'll just make a tutorial. HAhA!

just change the code from saying gotoAndStop("playnow") to gotoAndPlay("playnow") or... tell it to go and play the frame that your animation starts on, just put the number in the brackets, no speech marks.

umm, im probably being retarded as the limping monkey i am but i cant seem to get it to work.
ive got the whole flash ready to go all layered and etc and on the top layer is a single frame which is my button thing, ive put nothing in line with that frame all the way down the other layers below it
but when i export it it just skips the play button as if it wasnt there and goes on with the flash as though there was just a blank frame in front of it ¬¬

you should have a stop(); command on a frame above your play button is the movie stops on that frame and won't resume until your hit the button,

One thing though... I know you already answered someone's question to this, when you try to test the movie and it says
**Error** Scene=Scene1, layer=Layer 1, and so forth with the 'Mouse events are permitted only for button instances' ...
And you say to click on the button and open up the Actionscript window, but when I do that, it says 'Current Selection cannot have actions applied to it'
... @.@ Is that normal? Wtf my computer is screwy...

Hey!! I finally did the job!! but I'm experiencing 1 trouble, I can't paste to action script at the button, becouse it sais 'current selection can not have actions applied to it, it said so at the beginning when I just clicked the insert > newsymbol > button one, and at the end when I was done iwth my button ;__;
