Beginning the series for an upcoming book, this opening image shows the "villains", the King of Hazor (north of Israel) employs his captain, Sisera, and begins conducting raids and terrorizing the Israelites. So the King's look is based on some archeology that uncovered statues in Hazor itself, akin to the Jabin of Hazor mentioned (and which I illustrated) in the book of Joshua. Here, I changed some elements and the color scheme for thematic purposes.

Sisera himself is a bit of a man of mystery, but my stylistic choices are along the lines of him belonging to the sea peoples, particularly the Sherdana (maybe Sardinian?) people. I also wanted him to look tough and sinister, not an easy enemy to have. This scene needed to look intimidating and imposing as they prepare for battle. The Sherdana were depicted in ancient reliefs with horned helmets, with the horns rising rather high above the head.
