Description
Deborah and Barak meet under the “Palm of Deborah” in the hill country of Ephraim. Each aspect of this was researched out, to try to get a feel for what that might have looked like. The names of the characters are reflected in the color and style, where Barak means lightning, I wanted to portray him in golds and blue. Deborah means bee, and so without being too obvious, I chose golds/yellows and black for her clothing. It’s also why I chose this warrior judge to be armed with a bow / stinger.

Also, I wanted Deborah to be strong, but without downplaying the role that Barak plays either. Still, given the danger of meeting to plan like this, I wanted him to literally be throwing an eye over his shoulder.
