Description
More experimentaion in Painter. I decided to try an InuYasha painting and as I said in the nouveau piece [link] , For some reason, I've always been drawn to that first moment Kagome finds him pinned to the tree. There's something to that serene setting masking the potential ferocity within. I don't know, but I've always loved it.At any rate, still learning new techniques and finding that more RAM would be a useful thing as the program kept shutting down on me after every 3 or 4 saves.
Media: Painter 8 and Photoshop 6
The character of InuYasha is copyright Rumiko Takahashi

Gorgeous! Ohh, I want to stroke his hair. He looks so real. The only thing I would have done differently (not that I could do anything like this XD)is maybe placed the ears lower, they seem a little unrealistic where they are. But yes, love it anyway. The serine expression (or lack thereof ) and soft lighting (especially on his oh-so-strokeable hair), really make this really effective.
Off to look at your gallery some more

That is so amazing. It looks so real, almost like you copied it straight from a photograph. This picture is just so... I don't think there's even a word to describe how awesome it is.

Aww, thank you very much. I wish I'd had photo ref, it probably would have gone a lot faster I worked off and on for about three days on this and I think it's one of the least looked at pieces in my gallery. Go fig

Great lighting and mood. I would have liked to see a greater variety of textures..like the tree a little more rough and the hair a little more whispy. Other than that, it has nice atmosphere.

You've really captured that moment! I love it - and you even gave him Asian features - so beautiful!

The first book of Inu-Yashu was really the only one I liked, it got a little to strange/bloody for me after that one, but you captured this scene perfectly.. I thought him stuck in the tree with the arrow in his chest was very mysterious and had a very ancient feeling to it.. like a sword in the stone type story feel to it, only it was a magic beast man you were releasing as a weapon instead of a sword.. The lighting you did here is perfect, and you made his hair so pretty in this pic that'd I want to go up and examine him if he looked like he did in this pic the same way Kagome was inclined to do. Really really great job on this!

The soft light gives it a delicate feel... almost fragile (though I know Inuyasha would beat me up for saying so ).

no no, you're very right, there's a definate contradiction in how he is presented on that tree and how he is.

I absolutely love the lighting on this....I can't stop staring at the color usage. It works so well to give that almost innocent, peaceful feel to the piece. (Which is just such a wonderful contradiction )

It's a gorgeous moment, that's for sure. I think that serene face being her first impression of him is what made Kagome so determined to be his friend. I really like the warm, golden light you have filtering through to his face. It really makes this feel organic and summer morning-like. The speckled bits of leaf green in the light really emphasize that this IS a forest, with sunlight streaming through the canopy of leaves. I also really like how you have his face sort of haloed in light.
Really, really good job!

That's true, that first look has to draw you in and want to know more about this character or you'd have no story I should know that, we've only been talking about it almost every day in my sequential art class
