Part of my WWII DnD game set in a fantasy world's version of WWII. This world's version of the confederacy split away from the union successfully during their civil war. Throughout ww1 stayed in a cold war, and finally boiled over in war during the 2nd world war with the Union taking an aggressive approach and invading the south to settle the near 100 year rivalry, and reunite the country as one.
-The Union, having adopted a more centralized government, took on a more tax heavy socialist approach. The state needed to maintain the country and it is the state's job to see to it that the country is tended to, no other smaller provinces.
-The confederacy took on a more state-right oriented approach. The federal government watching over all the provinces was only there to uphold the law and see to national defense.

The two nations were polar opposites. And since the end of the civil war, spread near constant propaganda, turning once-brothers into enemies.

The war's just begun.
