They would be like if the Roman Empire never fully collapsed and survived till ww1.
But here they speak 'Imperial' which is this world's English and is more of a mix of German and English ethnicities.
Though, Alesvyrria and Skandvar are also pretty close to Germany

Thanks! I wanted to use slightly different colors than red and blue... Though red ended up still being used because the other colors I wanted to try looked kinda bad.
Except brown.

I see what you mean, still I like the colors you choose as they are simple and not too overbearing, therefore they do not drown out the names for the empires and realms. I was reading a book from the 1930s on European Diplomacy around the early 1900s and the colors they used was super bright that it made the map kind of hard to read, nevertheless great job!!
I wanted to ask how did you make the map? I know it sounds kind of strange but I'm kind of curious.

The background Texture-y thing? or the overall map?
for the background I ripped an image off the internet that I searched "old parchment texture" or "map texture" and then played around with it in photoshop, dulled it a little, and added some splotches and wear with brushes. Then I drew on it at about 40-50% opacity with a dark grey color. From there it was just color with muted colors and at a low opacity level

Sorry if I was too vague, but yeah for the overall map. Still that's interesting, at first it thought you had used PS charcoal brush for the background. But textures really do give it that worn vibe, I bet drawing all boarders must have taken some time.

It would have taken longer if I hadn't already done some other concepts and map types on a sketchbook. I basically mashed them all together for this

there were a few real world bits of inspiration but it was mostly a ground up thing.
Brishin Isles was inspired by Japan, which that one is pretty obvious if you've seen the soldiers I've drawn for them.

Oh I see, I have not seen them, but I'll have to check them out to better understand the context.

Don't, they've got a good Navy and are surrounded by near impassable and fortified mountains

none. I imagine in this setting the equivalent of switzerland would be owned by one of the empires
