Description
A commission for , who came up with an enjoyable hypothetical team-up between my "Friendship Sentai Ponyranger" series and the (at the time of this posting) most recent Super Sentai show, "Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger". The main villain of this hypothetical team-up? A version of the G1 Baddie Grogar, as reimagined as a powerful member of the Deboss Army that serves as "Kyoryuger"'s main antagonists.
even provided me with a full Bio for this new version of the character, which I share with you now:
Darkness Knight Grogar
Homeworld: Earth (Kyoryuger dimension)
Weapon: GroStaff
Knight Catchphrase: "Very pathetic...."
History: Grogar was created 1000 years ago by the alien being known as "Deboss", to serve as the Deboss Army's emissary of darkness within Equestria. Weakened from sealing her sister Luna into the moon, Queen Celestia was saved by Wise God Torin and together they managed to defeat Grogar. However, he was not killed as believed but instead merely went into a state of deep hibernation, gathering the darkness of the land into his body to strengthen himself. Reawakened, he is determined to continue what he started and conquer Equestria, and to use it's magic to aid in the resurrection of his master Deboss. Faced with this new threat, the Pony Rangers team up with heroes from another dimension: "Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger"
Personality: Grogar is a cold and shows no mercy towards his enemies, enjoying the suffering he causes. He lives off darkness and enjoys corruption. There would be nothing more he would love than turning Equestria into a playground for evil. Despite this, he is loyal to the Deboss Army and puts resurrecting Deboss above everything. However, he tends to treat the other knights shoddily due to his nature and seniority over them.

This is pretty awesome. I mean. Wow. I always really liked those episodes of g1 ponies even though I had to acknowledge that some of the dopey narm would it hard for older audiences to appreciate. So I'm very happy to see that you (and ) have done a good job re-establishing Grogar as a villain in a new context. Nice design, smooth coloring. Great work!

Yeah, Grogar's is a pretty memorable story, and his concept and design lent themselves well to the idea. Always happy to give an old-school fan some G1 fun. ;3 <3

I misidentified this guy at first. The extra designs are very cool. Everything is still very much in keeping with mood and character.

You know? I never noticed the bell on the staff before, but I think it is a nice touch. Bells are often associated with peace and soothing, but for Grogar? They are a herald of doom. I imagine the Pony Rangers would be a little uncertain of how to handle him once they realize he isn't associated with Nightmare Moon. One wonders what Nightmare Moon would do once the Deboss Army comes in to reclaim their lost comrade and use Equestria in their plans to revive Deboss?

Thank for the idea; I had originally thought I would not be able to include the bell Grogar has around his neck in G1 for this design, since between the giant skull shoulder blade and the Deboss face-badge, there was no place I could think to put it...until she had the ingenious notion to put it on his staff.
And as for Nightmare Moon, I suppose that depends a bit on when in the "Ponyranger" story took place, since...well, you'll see eventually. x3 ;3

Well looking at your recent pic, this crossover could take place after the fight with the changes, that way giving them a break in villains. Likewise for the Kyoryuger timeline, this could take place after their respective movie. But still his death doesn't mean the end of him. Later in Kyoryuger, there is an arc where Deboss Hell is opened up and all the past monsters reemerge. This could lead into another storyline where Grogar links Equestria Hell and Deboss Hell in an attempt to drown both worlds in darkness, thus leading to another team up, only by this time, all ten Kyoryugers have been gathered.

Well yes, but we ARE talking in comparison to the rest of the Ponyverse; going from THAT, light blue, dark red, grey, and just a dash of gold is practically muted. x3
