Description
"A beautiful heart! With elegance and grace, we weave our friendships together! Generous Ranger, Rarity!"Name: Rarity
Element: Generosity
Spirit Type: Unicorn
Weapon: Horn Staff B
Mecha: Opalescence The Cat
Bio:
* A self-described Lady of Class, Rarity is an ambitious fashionista with a particular eye toward how best to fit each customer to a special dress just for them. As much as she strives to improve her business, though, she always remembers her true motive: to create something amazing for others to share.
* Although she struck out on her own at a fairly early age, Rarity is still in regular touch with her parents, who turn to her to take care of her younger sister Sweetie Belle whenever they go on one of their (fairly frequent) vacations. The two can get on each other's nerves sometimes, but at the end of the day, both sisters share a remarkable bond.
* While she always strives to keep herself composed and graceful, Rarity is prone to outbursts of extreme emotion in particularly personal or stressful situations.
* Rarity is perfectly aware that, because of her profession and disposition, many view her as prissy and vulnerable. She's been known to play up this perception to lull her enemies into a false sense of security, but when needed, she is fully capable of getting VERY serious, especially if she feels her honor, or the honor of Friend and/or Family, is being impugned or insulted.
* Both on and off the Battlefield, Rarity demonstrates a key eye for detail and a highly disciplined Technique that allows her to craft and expertly execute remarkably intricate designs and strategies. On the flip-side, this does mean she struggles with adjusting or changing her plans, even when it might be needed, but ultimately it is a strength more often than a weakness.
* Rarity has owned Opalescence since she was a newborn kitten. The two were antagonistic at first, but once Rarity started helping Opal with her grooming, things warmed considerably. Ever since, Opal has been Rarity's unofficial "model", and helps her make certain choices of what tools and materials to use in her work.

Rarity after transforming on uniform: "What am I wearing... and why does it have such a tacky cape?"

I don't go looking for Pony stuff, and yet still they invade my life. Interesting. I got here from looking for the keywords "Impugned Honor." Wasn't expecting Rarity.

Such is the oddity of dA including any words used in the Artist's Comments whenever you use the Search...but not the title. XD

Very Nice! I like the dark shinned complexioned that you gave Rarity, it makes her stand out. Is her regular outfit based on her gown for the Gala?

Indeed it is, as are all the civilian outfits in this series thus far. Glad you liked, thank you for the comment. ^_^

A lovely take on my favorite character. I do admit I think you went a little too literal on her mane - can't really see Rarity rawkin' the 'hawk - but I think her armor is the best yet, and her civilian garb is nicely classy.
Rarity with skin this dark is a new one for me, though I tend to see her as Polynesian for some reason (with AJ and Rainbow white, Twilight East Asian (I think it's the haircut), and Fluttershy and Pinkie black. Go figure.) It looks good on her, though, and makes a nice contrast with the armor. ^^

So glad you like. ^_^ Good point on the hair-style, though I admit doing Rarity's hair "on-model" is tricky enough, I dunno how well I'd deal with trying to adjust it at all. XD;
Huh. I can see those picks too, actually, though aside from Applejack and Rainbow Dash, I admit my picks'd be different. Still, it just goes to show, the world of FiM really is wonderfully diverse. ^_^

Mecha Opal...there's something amusing about that thought!
And you know, if someone had asked me to think about race in designing humanized FiM characters, I would have made Rarity white, but thinking about it now, that would have been for purely stereotyped reasons based on her parent's I guess mid-western accent, so thank you for bringing that to my attention! I feel a little bad...I try to make the point that real-world associations between culture, race, appearance, gender, language, etc. don't necessarily have to hold up in fiction that takes place in another world entirely, and yet here I was doing that exact thing! With ponies of all things!

Yes. Yes there is. X3
As I told , I've kind of grown attached to the idea of a dark-skinned Rarity after seeing some VERY pretty takes that portray her as such. It's an image that formed before the revelation of Rarity's parents, truth be told, but it's managed to stick even so. And hey, don't feel bad; we're human, with human perceptions and thought processes, y'know? ^_^
Thanks for the comment.

I'll say it if no one else will; I don't usually see dark-complexioned human!Rarity interpretations, and honestly, it's a very interesting concept--the side-effect being that, combined with that civilian-outfit, she looks more like an older motherly figure than a flighty fashionista of justice. At least to me.
I can see one reason why you did it, though: if she weren't dark-skinned, you wouldn't be able to see her as the glare from her power suit can be felt from miles away. The helmet is the true winner of said morphed form here, but otherwise, everything appears uniform with the other... erm... uniforms. ^^
I love staff-wielders so I wish I could actually see her in action. Said staff does appear to be double-pointed, however. That on purpose? Or do you mean for it to be a magical conduit of some kind...?

I've seen enough dark-skinned Rarity's that the concept didn't seem that odd to me, and I knew from the beginning that it simply would not make sense for a group as colorful and varied as the Mane Six to be all Caucasian when translated into human terms. Thus, when I tried to picture what a humanized Rarity would look like, this is more or less what came out. ^_^
As for the Staff, it is indeed intentional that it be double-pointed, but their purpose is not for offensive purposes. As you guessed, it's a Magical Conduit, with each "point" helping to channel particular kinds of Magic. The upper point, for example, is for more general spells, like levitation or teleportation, while the lower point is specifically attuned to Rarity's special powers, like Tracking Spells.
Thank you for your comment. ^_^

I only wish I could claim this was intentional, but I'm afraid my sense of Honesty ( ) compels me to admit I haven't kept up with "Fourze" and thus did not know what Magnet States were 'til just now. XD; Still, glad the connection made you happy. ^_^
There's one in particular I wish I could show you, but I can't find it and don't remember who drew it, unfortunately. Still! There ARE other good examples out there, and here they are for you to enjoy!

Interesting design. I do like the helmet and her hairstyle.
Also, staff seems to be a bit of a misnomer.

Perhaps scepter would be better? I realize the pointed horn at the tip might qualify it as a Spear, but its primary purpose isn't really for physical attacking.
Glad you like the picture, and thank you for the comment. ^_^
