Description "Faithful and strong! Hold strong and true to our friendship! Honest Ranger...Applejack!"

Name: Applejack
Element: Honesty
Spirit Type: Earth
Weapon: Hoof Hammer A
Mecha: Winona The Dog

Bio:
* The loyalest of friends and the most dependable of people, Applejack is the hard-working owner of Sweet Apple Acres, one of Ponyville's most lucrative businesses. She is extremely hard-working, earnest, and open to others.

* That said, she can also be ferociously stubborn, and is often hesitant in the extreme to ask for any kind of help. She will give everything of herself she can for others, but feels that if others have to do the same for her, then she has only become a burden to them.

* Family is extremely important to Applejack. Not only does she live with her Granny Smith, older brother Big Macintosh, and younger sister Apple Bloom (of whom she is highly protective), but she also considers good friends to BE Family, worthy of the same level of trust and affection.

* Her parents died when Applejack was very young, not long after her sister Apple Bloom was born. For a time, Applejack blamed Apple Bloom for their deaths, but soon realized how untrue and unfair that thinking was. Consequently, she embraced her sister as the last gift her parents gave to her, and values her deeply to this day.

* Applejack is an absolute Tank in battle. She is not terribly versatile or tactical, but she is, physically, far and away the strongest member of the Team, able both to endure large amounts of damage while still going on, as well as dish out some truly devastating attacks of her own.

* She sees her dog, Winona, as more of an Equal Partner more so than a pet, since the two of them work together on many important duties for Sweet Apple Acre, such as rounding up the Farm's herds or gathering up natural supplies. Winona's family has in fact been with the Apple Family for several generations by now, and she is the latest, much to Applejack's delight.

Not really; as far as she's concerned, it's just one more way for her to help out her family and protect her home. ;3

I don't know why, but I suddenly got the idea of a Breather episode/BLAM episode in my head for this using AJ's family.

It's a goofy episode where the big bad sends a monster to try to kidnap a member of the ranger's family.

The monster, for whatever reason, decides that Big Macintosh is the ideal target.

It tries the direct approach, which fails misribly when Big Mac knocks it away with minimal effort, so it tries Wile E. Coyote-style traps, which fail as badly as you expect, with Mac none-the-wiser about most of them. Hilarity ensues.

That does indeed sound pretty funny. XD; I could even see the MotD being modeled after the Hydra from "Feeling Pinkie Keen", hence the foolish choice to pursue Big Macintosh; the "dopey" head spies him, thinks he'll be a good target, and convinces the other two to give chase.

It would also explain the idiotic traps that I mentioned earlier.

After a while, the girls come across this and for a bit debate as to whether they should stop this themselves or just wait for the monster to kill itself.

No, I rather like it too; I dunno if it could fit my plans, especially since I have my own idea for the Hydra as an MotD, but even so, it's good fun. ^_^

I love the posing and design of the civilian form, actually, and the longer hair for her transformed self looks great! Interesting take on the backstory too. 83

XD yush

Thank you thank you. The backstory's really just an extrapolation/modification of my own head-canon for the fate of AJ's parents in-show, so I'm glad you like it. ^_^

Bio: ...wow, dark-ish. How would AJ connect AB to the death of their parents? I'm not saying that's wrong or anything, I'm just really curious!
Applejack is an absolute Tank in battle. -- I see what you did there.

Civilian Form: Physique and outfit are absolutely the winners of this piece. I expect her to go chopping down some trees any minute now.

Hero Form: ...good gravy that is a lot of hair, Applejack. I have absolutely no idea how you manage to keep your balance with that much mane--especially since it looks rather bottom-heavy from the current perspective. Rest of the outfit is the usual great design, it's just... wow.

Gojira007 In reply to BookishDelight [2012-04-24 02:27:46 +0000 UTC]

Bio: Bad timing and child-mind convictions that don't always make 100% sense; Ma 'n' Pa had to start working a lot harder after Apple Bloom was born to help support their now-bigger family, so Applejack saw less and less of them. Then, when they did die in a tragic work-related accident, Applejack chose to blame Apple Bloom because it was for her sake her parents were doing the extra work in the first place.

Civilian Form: Thank you thank you. And while tree-chopping is more Big Macintosh's job, AJ's pretty capable of it herself too. XD

Hero Form: Yeah, I imagined the elongated "mane", meant to simulate Applejack's handy-dandy prehensile tail from the show, might be a little off-putting. For what it's worth, we're seeing it in "combat mode", wherein AJ can use it like a mace to bat enemies around or a whip/rope to wrap things up; otherwise, it's the same length as in Civilian Form.

Ahh, okay, that all makes sense! Of course, the hair-gimmick now has me imagining AJ as Bayonetta...

...I think we have a new problem.

I think those hammers need a slightly longer handle, other than that, everything is awesome.

Gojira007 In reply to DrewB1442 [2012-04-23 17:59:09 +0000 UTC]

Heh, the name's not literal; the "hammers" are actually worn like gauntlets, and the "handles" are actually straps to hold them to the fore-arm. ^_^

Well, I think they're all all-around really good! I especially like the "hammer" designs as hooves...I guess they're used for punching?

All right, Applejack! I like the build that you gave her; I always thought that she would have a muscular figure if she was a human.

The story with Apple Bloom was sweet, sounds like an actual senti back-story or at least a Japanese story. Isn't weird that Japanese can get the darker serious stories for "Kids Shows

Yeah, I wanted to make sure each girl had a distinctive body-type that fit their lifestyle and personality. ^_^

Truth be told, the Apple Bloom story is really based more on my own personal feelings about Applejack's character and history from "Friendship is Magic", but yes, I do agree it fits well with Sentai's story-telling sensibilities.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cartoonking1 In reply to Gojira007 [2012-04-23 06:52:33 +0000 UTC]

Having a distinctive body-type for each of the girls is smart not to mention refreshing; I have gotten so tired with the same body-type for every character, especially for girls.

That is cool that you came up with Apple Blooms story. I kinda wish that we had just a tad more Sentai story-telling her in the west.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gojira007 In reply to cartoonking1 [2012-04-23 16:26:21 +0000 UTC]

Agreed, wholeheartedly. I only hope my own stab at the concept works out. ^_^

Well, for me, "Sentai Storytelling" is kind of an amorphous term, because after over 35 years, what it actually means outside of the tropes 'n' traits of the series' aesthetic-color-coded costumes, giant Robos, etc.-is kind of broader than you might think, y'know?
